Indiana OC to Fresno State as HC

Clueless Randy Sanders just ran what Cut prepared for him in the Fiesta Bowl. I suspect that will happen with IU........assuming their next man up is as clueless as Sanders was.

It could actually make it more difficult based upon who is calling the plays. Their tendencies may be thrown out.

I doubt that. I would imagine the new guy isn't as qualified and he will stick with what's been working. The advantage for UT will be the Experienced guy won't be there for in game adjustments. Pruitt may be holding class in Jacksonville.

I think overall this will help the Vols have a better chance to win. IU's next OC is either on the staff and will be promoted or hired before the bowl game. If he is already on staff then he is probably not used to calling plays but knows the players and might do a decent job. If he is hired from outside the program then he may be experienced at calling plays but not know the players. Either way I would expect this to change the outcome by 3-7 points just based on the fact that it will be someone new at the helm. All of this assuming that the guy really calling plays is the one leaving.

It's always nice to see where our fans disparage our former players and coaches..............

So your saying that we have never had a dud as either a coach or player?

I'm not saying all criticism was earned or warranted, but I think that a good bit of it was.

And no, death threats or anything like that are way off base no matter what the circumstances as it is just a game.

Not sure how you get that ("so you're saying that we have never had a dud as either a coach or player?") out of my post. Sanders was a position coach for the Vols for many years, a few as OC. Even called the National Championship Game as OC. Now the head coach at ETSU..........clueless people don't do things like that.

Since this is essentially an exhibition game against a staff/opponent that Tennessee may not play against for another 30+ years, I would expect minimal time and effort will be spent focusing on what Indiana may do. Preparations and practice time should be spent almost entirely on just improving techniques and running plays they want to use next season.

Randy Sanders a VFL, but a terrible OC was he. Lived and died by the bubble screen play that our enemies knew was coming did they.

I hope you are correct. There are a lot of Vol fans who think this is going to be a massive blowout.
Yeah. I don't understand the overconfidence from some of this fanbase. We finished 7-5 with 4 point wins over both Mizzou and Kentucky. And losses to BYU and Georgia State. I'd say Indiana is better than Georgia State. Any Big 10 team and SEC team should be. But I'd say they are pretty much even with BYU, Mizzou, and Kentucky. Maybe even better than all 3. This is a team that took Penn State down to the wire on the road.

Wasn’t a similar approach used for Ga. State?
