John T Majors dressed to the 9s on the sideline……. & Volnation was finished with him after losing 3 straight in ‘92.is sloppiness the norm for a competitive top tier D1 football program?
I watched the first Press Conference footage last night since JH was hired.
I'm out of the loop on what is the norm. I know we've had a few coaches who shall not be named who didn't present very well on the sideline.
In a previous life, a press conference meant something. If a person was a professional with their direct reports and coworkers, they were always even more "on point" in front of the people who "signed their checks".
Call me old school, but I would've fired JH on the spot if I was signing the checks and walked into that presser.
Does no one care anymore? Do we not have enough money to ask professionalism? Has the sport as a whole devolved where that will never be expected again?
To me - the appearance/affect alone that I saw explains so, so much about everything I've seen on the field.
Do you see it differently?
As they say, if you remember the 70s, you didn't enjoy the 70s. I don't and I did.My earliest memory of watching UT on TV is the Bluebonnet Bowl back in the day and can't even tell you who the coach was or who the players were.
It’s the way of the world these days. Sloppy is in vogue and accepted. Been to the airport lately? You’ll see people getting on planes in curlers, pajamas and fuzzy slippers with “BABY GIRL” written across their two ton rear. It’s ridiculous. Of course they are only representing themselves. Josh is representing the university and as such should clean up a little better.is sloppiness the norm for a competitive top tier D1 football program?

At the beginning of the 70's I was 5. At the end I was 15. I don't remember all of it for other reasons. lol.As they say, if you remember the 70s, you didn't enjoy the 70s. I don't and I did.
I'm concerned about the Joey A report that "focus was lacking in practice" because Joey A isn't a new guy to locker rooms and practice and he worked his butt off to learn when he got to Knoxville.
Also, that he had the stones to say that into a mic after a game tells me he either doesn't care what (or perhaps has lost respect for what) Coach Heupel thinks about him saying it. Nevermind that he's rolling some teammates under the bus, keeping the team focused is on the coaches.
If I had a press pass, the next time Heupel saw me I'd be asking for comment about Joey's take on focus during practice.
What I wanna know is, where was this post when we were winning 10 games?is sloppiness the norm for a competitive top tier D1 football program?

Deboer is in his second year after inheriting a roster absolutely loaded with talent from Nick Saban that he managed to coach into 4 losses his first season, three of which to unranked teams. He is in line to make the playoffs this season but that might hinge on winning the SECCG. In Deboer's two seasons at Bama, his record to this point is 19-6 with no bowl wins. Josh Heupel is 45-19 with two bowl wins and a playoff appearance. They are 1-1 head to head. I'm not sure how any of that correlates to the sloppy appearance comparison, though.Does it? DeBoer's in what year? and how is his team doing?
