I don't know why people think Butch is such a great recruiter. Look at our recruits for 17. A bunch of 3 star kids. That wouldn't be so bad but Butch and crew can't evaluate talent.

Mercy. There a lot of things worthy of criticism... But this erroneous and just plain piling on.

CORRECT:

J Dobbs did not execute very well. Occassion pressure, but mostly poor execution and decisions.

The running back had to deal with early contact for the entire game. O-Line did not get a push, even late in the game.

Defense, 13 points only. If we give up 13 point per game, best in nation. Not sure about 1st half, but the expected D showed in the 4th quarter.

Offense, 20 points only. Honestly, I expected about 35-42 total, with upside. Simply, poor execution of a limited game plan
It's not all on the o line though. Example: with about 7 minutes to go in game when Dobbs nearly threw his second pic - AS blitzed the LB. The o line created a nice pocket and picked up all D-lineman (i.e., they were all engaged). Kamara did not recognize the blitz and ran a flat route leaving the LB unblocked. Dobbs should have recognized this at LOS before snap and so should have Kamara - it was not a delayed blitz and was obvious.

Second example: in OT on 1st and 2nd down, we ran a trap play with the player on the left wing blocking down to his right - Hurd hit the 3 hole both times when that play is designed to be in the 2 hole. Granted on second down, they got pressure but my point is I don't think Hurd was always hitting the holes he was supposed to and bounced way too many runs outside.

I saw a lot of poor plays by the o line, but this certainly is not all on them.

Dobbs was not good. No argument. But he did not have adequate time most of the time. The o line was pathetic. So while Dobbs was bad... The same is true of the o line.
Not denying they didn't play great - but Dobbs missed a lot of throws with no pressure. We've seen that before, but this is the first time I've seen him make terrible decisions. I think our schemes weren't solid either (see my post above). How do we not account for a blitzing LB. How does Kamara and Dobbs not see that? Better communication would certainly help. So would better coaching.
