These are the numbers on Rivals four stars in state the last five years. There were players ranked below this that have done better than most. Randall Cobb immediately comes to mind, 3 stars and Dontari Poe was an unknown 2 stars now with the Chiefs. But these players regardless of how they performed or are doing in college were wanted by most everyone at the time. Eight of 28 is an embarrassing percentage.

2012, 10 four star recruits, 1 signed by Tennessee (Bowles)

2011, 2 four stars, 2 both signed by Tennessee (Clear, Richardson)

2010, 6 four stars, 2 signed by Tennessee (Stone, Smith)

2009, 5 four stars, 2 signed by Tennessee (Teague, Gordon)

2008, 5 four stars, 1 signed by Tennessee (the late Aaron Douglas)

Thanks to the 8 who chose UT over others!
There are 3 players here in West Tenn that are considering Bama, and Ole Miss..Not impressed with coaches recruiting from Tennessee, although all 3 grew up as Vol fans....

what was sad is I was watching that Ensworth/BA game the other night. There were a lot of talented players on both sides, and we are not in on ANY of them.

What are there names?

Instate recruiting has been an issue for the Vols for quite some time. I believe that the right coaching staff (and a few more wins each year) could solve the problem rather quickly. Vol fans would just have to be patient for a couple of years.

Unfortunately, I do not see any improvement under Dooley. Though he has brought in some quality recruits, too many instate guys are opting for Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and others. Go Vols!

I think our coaches have underestimated in-state talent for a long time & I think we as fans also tend to think that if a player is in-state, he cant be THAT good....which is wrong.

That 2008 was a huge miss.. D.Hightower and Barrett Jones

this is overlooked and UT consistently misses on instate kids

How we give Dooley credit for the people he did bring in. He isn't the only one who has missed out on instate talent. Randal Cobb says hi to Phil Fulmer by the way.

The downfall of UT started with Fulmers recruiting the last few years he was here IMO. Characters like Kelly Washington. Cedric Wilson etc. Then kiffin had some real winners lol.

Among Tide visitors this weekend.

Class of 2015
The Tide staff welcomes several elite underclassmen including Rico McGraw, cornerback from Ensworth High School in Nashville, and Michael O'Connor, quarterback from The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn. McGraw has an offer from Alabama and favors the Tide.

Reoccurring cycle.. It's sucks that 75% of top TN Talent goes out of state
