He told Thigpen he was not a fit...Combine that with Tahj Boyd and I'm beginning to wonder why a "Coach" can't or refuses to "Manage/develop"...and find a spot for obvious "gifted and talented" athletes. I've been behind CLK the whole way but to send 4 star players packing doesn't make sense. Does he expect instant players without coaching? That lead to CPF's demise and instant players are not going to happen...unless you're a freak of nature like EB!

I think he's looking at his program long term. No sense taking 3 guys he doesn't want when he's put together a staff that he feels can recruit whoever they want next year.

Larry Smith is a prime example (from Prattville) Stud in HS, went to Vandy as a QB, stumbled a bit at first and was awesome near the end of this season. He is being developed to his potential and will start for Vandy next year.

Kiffin and coach O both know talent. They know what they want for the system they want to run. I don't like how the Thigpen issue has been unfolding. Shouldn't have told him a week before signing day that he isn't a fit for what we want to do.

At least he is being upfront with recruits instead of just getting them in here for recruiting rankings sake and letting them ride the pine.

What I don't really get is how you can't want speed on your team. Surely he'd be useful as a change of pace, special teams guy.

So thigpen is out? i've heard this a few times, but no confirmation... LINK? i'd love to trust CLK, and i do, but its hard when he's tellin 4 stars like boyd and thigpen to take a hike. not only is it dumb, but it seems border line classless, which is hard for me to say, because i've had trouble finding anything wrong with CLK.

I agree TNMAN... just don't understand the logic of tossing a guy like Thigpen...Boyd i can maybe undertand (a little) with his height at QB...Thigpen...I don't get it.

He's looking for kids that fit his system. Why bring a kid in when you know he won't fit? I don't care if he has 350 stars...if he doesn't fit the system all you have is a 350 star "prospect" sitting on the bench bi***ing and moaning.

I feel like this has been discussed approximately 6 billion times...

Where is Stankonia HS ranked? PHS is Rivals #10 in the entire country...Top that and you may speak pagan.

See you misjudged 'ole Business.

I don't give a rat's ass about Prattville because I don't give a rat's ass about High School football in general.

Why make a kid return kicks when he can have a great career in a system that he fits? In my opinion, keeping Thigpen would be a selfish move on CLK's part.

I agree with you. I understand a QB not fitting into your system. But not being able to find a way to use a gifted athlete who could play on offense, defense, or special teams? Doesn't make any sense.

And to do it to the kid only a week before NSD, thats kind of shady in my opinion. This kid has been solid Orange through the entire coaching change, and we leave him hanging with a week to go....:shakehead:

Fulmer didn't do a great job of designing the gameplan to suit the strength's of his players. Cutcliffe improved that aspect somewhat in his second stint, but still wasn't great. Clawson, uh, didn't get it done either. Kiffin is just going ahead and eliminating the need to redesign or restructure anything. He's only going after players that have the strengths he wants. I don't have a problem with that.
