With all the rumblings over Coach Wilcox I feel the need to make my own thread. (Maybe never the smartest thing, but my skin is thick and take the flaming!)

I have notice a few things that are certain. First everyone seems to be bashing Wilcox just because his name was mentioned for the DC position at Texas. It's like alot of people jumped all over the guy. As of right now he is the Defensive Coordinator for the university of tennessee and we should support him. He was brought here and came because he wanted to be here. Some want to see him go and some dont.

Alot of people are saying dont let the door hit you on the way out. Some are calling him out saying "I wasnt that impressed with him anyways. Come on, the guy has been here for 11 months and its not like he has all the talent in the world and isnt performing. He has a depth chart that is 1 maybe 2 deep and a wide reciever pleying corner, alot of freshman.

Lets think outside the box and stop being so close minded and hateful. The guy is obviously a popular guy, young, entergetic and knowledgeable with a sophisticated defense from what I have read. Hes had little time in the SEC to do much of anything but I believe he is going to be a force in the very near future. I just hope he is a force with Tennessee. If not then like Dooley said, there are 1,000 people lined up to take a JOB at Tennessee because this is a DESTINATION JOB! I love it and will continue to support any and every coach that is employed at the University of Tennessee.

Watching the video of Dooley's comments about the situation at the practice, I was feeling the guys frustration and dont blame him. I dont know/think he monitors message boards but he seemed as if he does have some knowledge of the bashing going on because he almost seemed offended and pissed off. Cant blame the guy,its ridiculous.

Said Coach Wilcox was at the practice facility last night going over the game plan for North Caronlina! GBO LETS GET EM DOOLEY, WILCOX, STAFF, and PLAYERS!

Let's look at this logically VOL fans. If he wasn't a good coach, nobody would be wanting his services. We (BAMA) has to deal with this issue every year.

I don't understand why in the hell he would want to go for the same Job. The only thing I can think of is the recruiting. He's at a great program, excellent facilities are being built for the summer of 2012. And I'm sure we can match any offer

I agree. Wouldn't see the motivation behind it.

Even if Wilcox stays, once this thing gets turned around and back on track, I don't see him sticking around. He wants to be a HC. i could see him replacing Tedford at Cal someday, because of his history there.

I really wish people would stop acting like the sky is falling. Texas is talking to our DC; Wilcox hasn't mentioned he is going to Texas.

Agreed. I found it laughable that a co-worker of mine said we should name him the coach in waiting. HA! I almost fell out of the chair. I dont see Dooley graying anytime soon and as long as he is successful he will obviously stay.

Besides I believe they got rid of that title after the Muschamp deal.

Red, I agree with what you're saying. We tend to get bent out of shape because there is talk that Texas might be interested in him. I hope he stays, but if he goes, then we'll find someone just as good if not better IMO. It'll get worked out soon.

Logical thinking wont get you far around here, but I agree 100%.

I've read on here that the DC job at Texas would be awesome because of the talent you would be able to recruit. If that's the case then Texas could basically get who they want.If they are going after CJW that says a lot about him.

It's kind of like being married to a hot woman. Would you really want to be married to a woman that no other men were lusting after?

I don't see the big stink about....IF Wilcox leaves we won't have a problem finding a replacement, its not like its the end of the world.

+1.. we should take it as a compliment. We should also get excited about what this staff should be able to do once they get their personnel here...seems like other coaches are impressed with what the staff is doing with what they have, so maybe we should too.

the fact is nobody knows if Wilcox is an Sec caliber coach ... nobody. The haters will say look at the stats and how we couldn't get sacks. the fans will say look at what he did with the level of talent we had on the field. Wilcox could be the greatest coach in the world on D or he could be just ok. But it will be alot easier this time around to get a DC than it was last time. We have alot more talent and even more coming in. If he leaves, I believe we get a step up.

I concur. have warned the nitwits on this board before, their shortsighted and so quick to judge and damn players and coaches is going to backfire sooner or later. It's as though too many such fans get their stupid from IV injections.

I do not diasgree with you at all and very good points made. I believe many were stating this... "IF" he was going behind Dooley's back and brokering a deal to leave, then Dooley needs to fire him ASAP. I agree with your post but I also agree with Hat's thread earlier. I can see it both ways.

I would love to see Wilcox stay as I believe he has talent and will be a force. But... I also feel the same way Dooley does "I will not lose any sleep over it".

Football Scoop is now reporting that Wilcox met with TX over the weekend but did NOT accept the job and rivals home page says that Mack Brown is filling the DC position with Fl's ex DC, so who knows?
