In and Out of the Bag

Just yapping at 5AM, while I wait for Shirley to arise for early district voting here.

Glanced at the All For Tennessee site. Talked about how Fulmer passed up the chance to hire Mel Tucker and picked Pruitt instead. Tucker has Michigan State rolling undefeated so far. Of course, that doesn't mean he would have done the same at Tennessee. Frankly, beyond his name, I don't know anything about him. That includes his coaching, recruiting, and whatnot. Anyone who feels like filling in gaps, have at it. I just wonder what made PF pick JP over MT.

The same article talked about how the unrecruited Kenneth Walk III was never offered by the UT, and is having a Heisman year rushing. Again, that doesn't mean he'd have done the same at the UT as too many variables are at play. The OL here, the level of opponents in the SEC, and so on. It mentioned Quavaris Crouch but didn't say much about him except he only came to Tennessee because of Pruitt. Talked about how we missed out on this and that. Phooey! I'm glad for what we have, not what we don't have. I guess it was a slow day for AFT website, like me this morning, had too much time, bored, talkative, and in a yakking mood.

On the next page, it mentioned something I was vaguely aware, which did shock me when I paid attention. Our OL has allowed 28 sacks thusfar this season. Somehow, I seem to have dismissed the sacks while watching games. In retrospect, made me wonder if this is how or why the Milt man became gun shy about being hit so much. Nope, not excusing the look like Tarzan, plays like Jane conduct of the guy. But wonder if he feared getting beat to heck like JG did while here. Which makes it seem as if Milt man might be a bit gutless. I recall Cam Newton in the Oregon vs. Auburn game, enduring repeated hits. The coaches told the Ducks to hit him and keep hitting whether he had the ball or not. Cam said he was sore all over from all those hits, but figured he'd make them pay by beating them. So he stood in the pocket when it was necessary, ran when it was necessary, hit after hit. You know guts when you see it, you know gutlessness when you see that too. I'm just yakking, I don't know anything, but the article got me wondering.

Quavaris is MSUs third leading tackler and a starter. Really hate that he hit the portal, man we could have used him. Might well have been the diffference maker vs Ole Miss, probably puts their QB on the ground a few times.

Always enjoy your errr….. unusual posts, Woodsman. In reference to toughness in QBs , I would have you watch Danny Wuerffel vs FSU in 1996 with Peter Boulware et al. teeing off on him. And as much as I am glad he is gone, JG in his 2nd year took as much punishment as any Vol and still got up. Respect to both.
