In all the excitment

Good post. But in some cases a kid needs a reality check, otha peters and jarvis giles come to mind. The morning of nsd peters is telling our coaches hes all vol, they later find out he had been a arky for well over a week. giles goes out of his wat to tell stan drayton the night before nsd hes all vol, 2 weeks earlier he had silently commited to carolina.
But most of these kids handle it well. Green handle it very well i think. Santos last year was a man about it, told Texas he would not commit til he told Dooley of his decision himself.
Dawson a couple of years ago was just a basket case, would text the coaches the night before nsd and say im a vol, little later would tell them he changed his mind and was usc, repeated this several times. I'm not talking bad about dawson here because i really feel like he was very torn and really struggling to make a final decision.
The recruiting process is a lot for a 17-18 year old kid, some handle it well and some dont.

While I agree that some don't handle the whole process very well, it still isn't our place to "set them straight". We aren't their parents. They handle their business how they choose and for us to retaliate, so to speak, only shows the UT fan base in a negative light.

Tennessee visit on deck for four-star LB

By Dave Hooker | Jan 30, 2013 9:41 PM

Tennessee refuses to give up on a four-star linebacker from the East Region. Likewise, he has refused to give up on the Volunteers.

E.J. Levenberry Jr. will take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend, according to his father, Eric Levenberry. The longtime Florida State commitment from Woodbridge (Va.) Hylton has had a hot and cold relationship with Tennessee. Tennessee was thought to be the lead school before former Alabama assistant Sal Sunseri was hired to be the Volunteers' defensive coordinator in January 2011. Sunseri didn't actively recruit Levenberry Jr., who eventually chose the Seminoles over Michigan and Oklahoma and many other schools.

Levenberry Jr. was scheduled to take the official visit to Tennessee last weekend. Ice storms in East Tennessee prompted him to postpone the trip to Feb. 2.

Thanks for this article/info. Seems like he wants to wear Orange, and avoid Sunseri at all costs-- damn smart kid on both counts. Hope like hell he signs.

It's def been a great day for the Vols with North's commitment. I just think it really needs to be stated for everyone on VolNation that it's imperative to not let our emotions get the best of us. Let this be a real eye opener. I went on North's twitter account, and I don't have a twitter account myself just viewing his page, and saw so many fans bashing him for not picking their school etc. Keep in mind that these are 18 year old young men. I know that we are on some big recruits like Bell and Lawson but no matter what happens lets be VFL and not go on these kids twitter and Facebook accounts and blow them up with negative comments. It's embarrassing to you, this fan base, and the University of Tennessee. Lets wish these young men well whether they be VFL or not and go on with our business. An 18 year old shouldn't be affecting anyone's life that much anyways, and this is coming from someone that doesn't miss a UT basketball or football game. We all love UT so let's represent this school with class and integrity. Go VOLS

Great Thread! :salute:

Gee, I can believe the audacity Barack to think anyone on here would act that way...that's embarrassing. On the other hand good post.:)

I agree with the op, there should never be a time to bash a kid. We have to be the mature ones and take the high road. With that being said, in our day of mass social media we have so called trolls that get on different sites and stir the pot if you will. This makes it hard to discern what is a true bash and what is not?
What I am finding more often these days too is a much younger group of fans who haven't matured very far and have the abilities to torch folks who they somehow disagree with them including recruits. That it hard to control as well....

I saw some absolutely horrible things said to Derrick Green by Auburn and Vol fans when he made his decision. Made me sick to my stomach. Great post, OP.

This needs to be bumped and there are plenty similar posts out there but first one I could find.

I'm already starting to see the bashing of these recruits/kids because they didn't pick TN.

I'm a TN fan and want all the 5*/ 4* kids to come here and not anywhere else, but it's their choice and just because they don't see TN the way we do, that they should get bashed in any form. Wish them luck and let's welcome the kids that want to wear the Orange and if can't say that either, don't say anything.

Have the so called classiness TN fans claim to everyone else.
