If you look at Dobbs body of work the entire time he was here and the coaching staff...in retrospect, how good do you think he was? My personal opinion is that Dobbs is a top 3 QB when it comes to TN QBs.

I think it's pretty well accepted that Dobbs gave us a lot more wins than we deserved with CBJ at the helm.

Hurd helped a great deal in his first two seasons, too, but I don't think many people on here are gonna be willing to admit that since everyone hates him anymore.

Not top 3, but close top 5.

Peyton
Kelly
Martin
Shuler
Clausen

All solidly over Dobbs, imo, with what they accomplished both individually and with their teams.

Dobbs belongs with next group.

Dobbs overcame a lot of bad coaching in his career.

This...Dobbs just has natural talent and it was that talent that masked some of Butch's faults as a coach. If Dobbs had real coaching, I believe he could have been considered on some All American teams.

Dobbs certainly never realized his potential here due to poor coaching, but top 3 might be a stretch, not because Dobbs wasn't very good, but because we have an insanely large number of great QBs in our history. If you're saying he's top 3, you have to put him above one of the following: Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, Heath Shuler.

I don't think you can say he's above any of those three. I'd also put Casey Clausen above Dobbs. I'd probably put Dobbs in the #5 - #7 range alongside Andy Kelly and Condredge Holloway. I'd put him ahead of Eirk Ainge, as well.

Sure add him to the 2nd list. Can't list every name or I'd be up all night.

One of the hardest running quarterbacks I have seen.
He wasn't afraid to take a lick and could dish out some punishment himself. He and the Artful Dodger are 1 and 2 on my list of most exciting, fleet-footed quarterbacks.

#2 all time in my opinion.

Single season record for TDs

2nd in career TDs behind Manning.

I've watched the Vols for 35 years and his senior season was like no other. Sure he had his flaws but they all did. Stronger arm than Clausen, light years more mobile than Shuler. Dobbs on a Fulmer + Cut team= Heisman

40 TDs in his Senior year alone

Under someone like malzahn who could polished his passing game up more he might.....have won heisman and national title.....might....

Would have won more games if we played Kamara more than Hurd. Shame Kamara was rotting away on the sideline.

1. Peyton
2. Iceman
3. Shuler
4. Dobbs
5. Kelly
6. Martin
7. Robinson
8. Streater
9. Ainge
10. Bray

Imo, since I can remember, around '78, when I was 7. Yeah, I probably overrated Streater, but he was the QB that made me fall in love with the Vols. Tee would have probably been higher, but only being the starter for 2 years hurt him with my rankings.

Stronger arm? I'm not sure I''m buying that.

However I'll admit I'm a bit biased for CC. Casey is my all time favorite QB and maybe player just for his gutsy performance in OT against Arkansas. He dove in for a score which was pretty awesome but to find out later he was playing with a broken collarbone made his OT score incredible.

Tee was also a warrior like few that played the position which also Makes him one of my favorite QBs.

Dobbs was exciting and ran really hard but his passing left a lot to be desired.

Dobbs with any kind of coaching would have ended up at the very least as a Heisman finalist. His play making abilities with his feet were incredible.

Statistically speaking, Dobbs was a better passer than most realize.

QBR his Sr year was 150. Clausen's best year was 134.

Nostalgia plays a big part in lists, and in 10 years Dobbs will be revered.

I was the guy that was trying to tell people they should appreciate Casey while we had him. It astonished me how underappreciated he was. I can't tell you how many people I knew that thought James Banks should be our QB.

Casey is much more well thought of now than when he was here.

I think Heath had more raw talent, but I definitely think CC was our 3rd best QB ever.

That's what happens when you're the guy who follows Peyton & Tee.
