in 2010 we can't afford to lose..

We can't lose any one on defense. Whether it's the secondary or the line. We're really thin in almost every postion. If not thin, there is a large talent gap from the starters to the next in line.

I disagree. We have quality depth at DE and LB

MARTIN, Williams, Miller
WALKER, Bohanan, Smith

REVEIZ, Johnson
KING, Frazier
THOMPSON, Lathers

What is really scary, is if you look at our roster, we can afford to lose people at only a couple of positions. Our depth chart does not look good.

What you boys talking bout? Hell, I could list ten OL right now and that means we have talent and depth.

This is a tough question. Montori Hughes would be a very tough loss but anyone on the OL would be difficult.

Based on last year, losing Nick Reviez would be a big hit also.

I think were solid at the number 1 spot across the board on the D with a big drop off a the 2 and 3 spots. The oline is definitely a patchwork even at the starting positions and QB will be a struggle at 1 or 2.

My senior year a guy I played beside on the line got hurt in practice and my coach told him to rub so dirt on it. Him being the idiot he is, he actually rubbed dirt on his are. A couple of mins later he screams out how his are feels better because of the nutrients and minerals in the dirt lol. Sorry everytime someone says anything remotely close to that I think of him...

thank you spelling nazi :salute:

Don't knock good spellers. A spelling error by incompetent clerk resulted in a patient being administered three times the dosage of a medication and it was the wrong medication to boot which killed her. Oh the doc revived her with frantic efforts, but it all began with the a clerk. I make errors too and appreciate being corrected because I've seen the levels of trouble misspelling can lead to. Including being detained by cops because of a misspelling of my name. So if correcting spelling makes one a nazi, "Heil orthography!" I say.

Due tell me how this relates to a UT football message board and accidentally misspelling someones last name? Due you have anything significant to contribute to the subject of this thread or football discussion?

I miss spell words, and use slang when I text. I wonder what'll happen to me?!

Chris Walker. Very close if not tied Montori Hughes. We have virtually no pass rush without Walker, who the old staff called him unblockable and he put up impressive stats last year, and no a ability to stop the run without Hughes. Man I sure hope our D line stays healthy all year.

What player do you think would be devestating for us to loose?

the DT position is so barren that hughes will be worn out by LSU game and ineffective rest of season 30-35 snaps a game is very maximum a DT can go and if he has to go that many, will be so worn out he will be useless by mid-season. if they can't come up with 5 DTs to get effective snaps, running backs will gain ton of yards up the gut...

in other words, losing Hughes is no worse than losing one of the # 2 DTs. The loss of any is devasting because no one to step in and take snaps

I swear... the people that post just to point out that you misspelled a word need to get a life! This is football message board not a freaking spelling bee. It's not rocket surgery. I guess people do it to get their post count up or just to be annoying, i dunno. I do know it takes away form this message board and the discussion at hand. I hate having to sift through 50 pages of arguing and people correcting spelling to find out information on a given subject.

good point... kind of like our LB core last year. another reason John Brown is very very important.

It's Hughes and not even close...we need this year to be injury free so we can get to next year and actually have some depth...I'd put Jackson as the second player we could least afford to lose and Nick Reviez third

Actually I think we are loaded at DE. If you count thee freshmen and I wouldn't be surprised if we play some 3-4 and blitz the LBs some with Wilcox. DT I hear you but we could lose a DE and be alright in my opinion.

Eh Walker is one of the better DEs in the country. Experience means a whole lot to DL. Plugging in a freshman and telling him to get to the quarterback is one thing.

Telling a freshman to keep contain while penetrating is entirely different animal.

The sky is not falling...yet.
There is some truth in what is said about depth, no doubt, but this season will tell the story of the kind of coach that was hired at the "real UT".
Set back and enjoy. It should be a he!! of a ride!
