In 2010, I would like to see the following from/surrounding the football program:
1) Four quarter football. Even in 98, it seemed like the team took a quarter or two off during games. This year came close a couple times. Since I started watching in 95, I don't think I've seen a complete game against a suitable opponent.
2) Finished tackles. Tackling discipline has trailed off over the last several years, even with last year's "legendary" defensive staff.
3) Fear in the other teams. I want our opponents to know that every time they step on field that it is going to be a painful experience for them. Fear causes hesitation; hesitation causes mistakes; mistakes lead to turnovers.
4) Special teams turnaround. Enough said.
5) Deafening volume from rabid fans. Two games come to mind for me - for UGa 95 and UF 98, the crowd was so loud that I could not hear myself play during Pregame. Notre Dame 99 was loud as heck (my first game not as a POTS member). Every other game I've been to since then (every other year or so) has been like attending a church service. Not even a good church service. If Tennessee Football is religion, it needs to lean towards the Charismatics and further away from the Puritans.
6) Timing. Dear Coach Dooley: When the "T" opens, RUN! Don't stand there with your thumb up your nose like X.
7) Special teams. Special enough to warrant two mentions.
8) Off-field discipline. Be it in the classroom or on the street, Tennessee players need to be men of the highest caliber. I'm all for them playing as hard as they work, just keep the stupidity out of it.
That's all I can think of for now... I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
