Improvement on Offense is what saves Dooley's job

Run the ball consistently and we win more games. I wish it was just easy as snapping my fingers. I don't think the OL will go another year getting whipped, but I just don't think we'll be good enough still

If you know football at all. Anyone could see that our offense was prolific with Tyler, Hunter and Da'Rick all healthy. Also, with Marlin, Dallas, Rivera, and a little from Poole we could compete with anyone this past year. Unfortunately when Hunter went down, we didn't have anyone to replace him, so coverages could be slanted over on Da'Rick and our lack of a run game was exposed. Our record could have easily been 8-4 or 9-3. Florida, Georgia, USC and KY were all winnable games. With a health Hunter and Tyler, we would have won at least 3 of those games hands down. The 2012 coming season will be special with all we are bringing back(experienced: O-Line, RB's, Wr's, TE's and QB's) and our D-Fense with AJ, Maggitt, Wagner, Lanier, and a much improved and experienced secondary(ie:led by Coach Randy Shannon), strong front seven and depth from Juco's and incoming freshman. Get ready for a great year as a Vol. Our schedule isn't to bad either.

we never really had a run game, but with both Hunter and Rogers we still had an O. When Hunter went down it was easy for a D. Double Rogers and stop the run with everyone else. Our Oline wasnt ready to pound the rock, even if the D was ready for it, they are almost all Sophomores, a junior and sometimes freshmen. The line needs more physical developement, ie, time in the weight room and they can do so. If Hunter comes back to original form we will be a very explosive Offense running and passing,

T Poole sucked. It is perhaps too blunt but it is true.

Marlin Lane a year further removed from knee surgery should be a lot better.

Our RBs have disappointed for what seems like a long time. That is because we are spoiled. Jamal, Travis 1 and 2, Foster, Hardesty good grief Bryson was better as a fullback at running than anyone we had this year.

Hunter is not worth 3 games. Arkansas lost knile davis and had their star wr come back off an acl tear and not meet expectations and they are in a bcs bowl.
I agree to a certain extent, is Hunter worth 3 games, that is debatable. However, so much of our offense was based around Hunter, lack of depth and inexperience killed us at WR after he was down. Da'Rick saw so much more attention his way than with Hunter in.
Even with Knile Davis, Arkansas is still a pass first team. Also, Arkansas had some good replacements at RB, something we did not have at WR.
I just don't think that is a fair comparison, even though both teams lost arguably their best offensive player.
11 win season, only two losses against the two teams in the BCS CG, I would say Arkansas met expectations. It's the nature of the BCS beast that they did not get a better bowl

Strong defense wins in the SEC.
Always has. Always will.
Throw in a decent kicking game and you can win with a QB like Simms.
Top it off with an elite offense and you've got a NC contender.
Starts with top 10 DEFENSE.

I have to agree that we were A LOT better with Bray, Hunter, and Rogers. Others definitely contributed, but without a doubt the big three were our offense. I absolutely believe we win the FL game with Hunter and probably a few others as well. We are better than our record shows.

With that being said, we definitely have some issues. The running game, regardless of whether its the line or the backs, MUST improve. There is no way to be effectively one-dimensional in the SEC and win against the top teir teams. Secondly, and equally important, something MUST be done with the kicking game. I support him and wish him success, but Palardy is horrible!! I don't know if he has the preverbial "Rick Ankiel" mental block or if he just isn't that good, but our kicking game has to get better. It has cost us games over the last two years.....Music City Bowl. If he hits the extra point we would not have been in that situation. Not that the loss is squarely on him, but the miss definitely affected the game.

I believed last year was an 8-4 year, and was disappointed. I am equally optimistic this year, and I believe all three aspects of the team will improve. The addition of RS (hopefully) will be huge!!

Go Vols!!

We gotta be able to run the ball too, it will help our air raid out a lot. I think special teams especially kicking will be a huge factor as well.

I agree with this 100%. Our special teams, not much out return team or kick off, but our punting and field goal kicking has to get better. Because nothing lets the offense down more than driving 70 yards just to see Polocky miss a field goal By the same token, our defense can't keep a good offense from scoring when we leave them with only 30 yards to go because of a twelve yard punt that wad returned 14. Really, mow I know why we still have Polocky, his recent texts revealed that his family is connected. Mark my words now, if something isn't done with this position, we will loose more than one game because of it

I would guess we will never really know if CDD would have us winning with all Jrs and Srs. After another sub par year in 2012, he will not be here. People like to point to injuries, schedule, that our starters are young. They fail to admit that alot of teams play alot of younger guys, have injuries, and play in the SEC. The difference is those teams field a team with the roster they have and compete. They do not just lay down and make excuses. Coaching is #1 and while we have the talent, we need someone who can coach these kids. I don't quite get how people just ignore the fact our head coach has always lost more games than he won. Just keep hoping and praying all a sudden a light will come on and CDD will be winning national championships. I will be realistic and expect to have a new HC in 2013. As a Dooler homer you don't have to like it, you just have nothing to point at to make a good arguement for him becoming a winner on the field. "Because I know it", just does not make it true. I will always support Tennessee and it's players. I don't have to support a lawyer acting like a head coach.
