Which three areas do think have the best chance of improving in 2012, and why? Be as specific as you can.

1. Winning more games

2. Running the ball. The OL should be improved and lord knows having a RB coach, and Jay Graham at that, we should get back to moving the rock.

3. Winning more games

1) Run blocking--because it sucked so badly that it would be hard not to improve.

2) The Linebackers. They were young and below average last year. I look for them to make it up to average in 2012.

3) The deep passing game. Because we will have Hunter and Patterson.

In 2013 I look for the coaching staff to improve markedly.

running game: the Oline will continue to develop after another yr in S&C program. Not to mention competition amongst themselves. The RB position is wide open, Lane & Neal will battle it out. Bourque might get some carries.
Run Def: The addition of Sentimore, McCullers, OBrien, Taylor not only add depth but quality depth. All those players have Play making abilities as well.
Pass Def: The secondary has cover skills & we have a couple ball hawks back there. The secondary will improve more when the Dline puts pressure on QB.

The three areas where we will be improved...

1) There will be vast improvement in the kicking game. We have the physical talent on the team with the # 1 high school kicker in the country in Michael Palardy. And Matt Darr was the # 1 rated punter in the entire country. These guys have the legs. They just need serious work on the mental side. And they need a coach who knows how to build up their confidence. Coach Coiner is going to be perfect! We will once again rule the kicking game. And we are going to be much improved in the coiner kick!
2) Our running game is going to be much much improved! The line is huge, experienced, we will get the scheme improved and we will open some holes. We have 5-6 outstanding young running backs and one of them will surface to lead our run game.
3) The defensive line will be vastly improved! We will have much more depth. Sentimore is a super stud who has already played significant SEC minutes at Bama. He will be our defensive MVP! McCullers is a mountain...what more needs to be said? Couch is our third lineman. We will be tough and we will be deep.
4) Wide Receivers are going to be the best, not only in the SEC, but in the entire country. Even better than USC and they are loaded. We have three first round NFL draft picks with Hunter, Patterson and Rogers. It is going to be fun boys and girls!!!

There you go VG....three areas of improvement.

Very important if we're going to stay with a Sprint Draw type O.

I like these 4 points. Very good.

1) Our linebackers should be significantly better. Our 2 best lb's aren't freshman anymore. I could really say this for our whole defense though. We should be improved quite a bit on this side of the ball.

2) Running game seems like the obvious choice, because there literally is nowhere to go but up. If we can get a steady running game then that should also help in the passing game, which could be one of the most dangerous in the country.

3) Level of crunkness should improve dramatically with the additions of Howard, Patterson, McNeil and Bourque. Fresh. Plus having Justin Hunter and Tyler Bray back in tip top shape should increase our swag by a mile.

You really think Coiner is gonna make big improvement in our kicking game, JH? That disappointed me more than anything else.

And I want a kick or punt returned for a touchdown! This year! Dammit! I hate waiting and hoping for a stupid touchdown on a return.

I really hope our running game is the biggie, though. I think Graham is gonna have us ready. He is. He's gonna have us ready.

I would duplicate some of these, but also ...

... once our guys get a couple of wins, I think their confidence and expectation of winning will ratchet up significantly

Yes, I did some research on him. Coach Charlie Coiner....he is exactly what the doctor ordered! He actually knows how to help the kickers work out the bugs and hitches in their swing. Coach Russell, who we had the last two years, was good at scheming on the coverages. But he didn't know that much about the actual art of kicking a ball. So when Palardy went into his funk, Russell didn't have the experience to get him fixed. Coach Coiner is going to be great! I think we will see more sharp improvement in the kicking game than any other area.

Yes, you bring up another good area. I always loved Jay Graham as a player. Looking back, we made a major mistake not having a dedicated running back coach last year. Jay is going to be excellent! And having spent the last three years with Steve Spurrier means Jay has been exposed to a great offense mind. I hope one of them running backs takes the bull by the horns this spring and takes over that # 1 position. It is wide open!

I think in general we will play with a lot more heart and aggressiveness, especially on defense. I really think Sunseri is going to prove to have been the best hire of all.

I think our offense will make a dramatic leap, year over year. We were in the 100s in total offense last year. Assuming all are healthy, both our passing and running should vastly improve.

I still think injuries made us look much worse than we really were last year. Thus, I think our improvement could appear dramatic in all phases of the game.

Every area should, can and will improve, there's just not much of a way that it can't, with the level of sucktitude reached last season there's nowhere to go but up.

I am desperate for the team to get back to the point of playing with superior confidence. It is time for the Vols to once again "Expect to Win" everytime we get on the field, regardless of who the opponent is.
I've had enough of hearing how superior our biggest rivals are to us, and then having it proven to us on the field.
Of course, to get to that point, we must improve in all of the areas mentioned.
Recruiting is obviously key as well, and I hope to see a big difference based on the added depth this year.

1. DL. Best talent and depth we have had in years IMO.

2. RB. It has to be better

3. OL. Kinda like 2. No reason we should be as bad as we looked.

4. Kickers.

Did you just call me "ma'am"? I commend your momma for teaching you manners, but this is football. :)

Southern Gentleman. Ha Ha!

1. Wins. If Dooley doesn't (can't) improve on 5 and 6 wins over the last two seasons, respectively, he's phoning it in...this team is built for 8 wins easy.

2. Passing game. Yeah, I said it....and we made some strides last year--without Hunter for 3/4 of the season. With the addition of CP, a healthy Hunter, and (hopefully a more mature) a more seasoned Rogers...we're poised to lead the conference in passing yards. Not to mention Rivera and Cam Clear...

3. Secondary and Pass Rush. This is a two-parter, IMO, b/c the pass rush, I think, is going to be much improved as well, but that translates to the guys in the secondary even more, IMO. Guys like Moore, Lanier, Randolph, Coleman, Brewer, etc. are all "due." With the addition on the DL of Sentimore and McCullers, and the improvement of guys like Couch and J. Smith...it bodes well for significant improvement in both areas.

I agree with the first 2.

I don't see the d-line improving as much as everyone else. Malik Jackson is a huge loss. I look for us to stay about the same there.

That was my husbands list as well.

I forgot one thing...you mentioned a return for a touchdown. With Cordarelle Patterson back there, you will see multiple punt / kickoff returns for touchdowns in 2012. He is really good as a receiver. But he is GREAT as a returner! If you have watched any of his film, in open space, he is simply amazing. The new kickoff rule is going to reduce opportunities on kickoffs, but I still predict that if they let him handle both punts and KO's, he will return 3 or 4 for touchdowns in 2012. He is outstanding! Devin Hester like...it is truly amazing!
