Seems to me if we hadn't collectively seen glimpses of greatness with this team the reaction wouldn't be nearly what it has been following a GA loss by 8pts.

We lost hope and games in this season due to key injuries. Same as FL will likely lose their shot at the east. It happens. Doesn't mean coaches suck when it does either. Teams as talent short as ours though have an even harder task.

Bottom line this team could use your support.

good point, we have playmakers at the positions we need them at. We are not elite because no depth at those positions and a struggling o-line

Ok even tho we didnt get the win on saturday this team did show improvement from last year. Our d is also not as bad as many (including myself) thought. They are 33rd in points allowed and 23rd in yards allowed. They really kept us in the floriduh and UGA games. Now lets all get excited for THIS SATURDAY AND PULL FOR THESE BOYS!!! For Gods sake the number 1 team is coming to town and we need to b rocking it! I know u may not think we have a chance but there is always a sliver of hope. Lets show these guys we r still behind them on saturday at 330!!!! GBO

Yes, we did show improvement by lowering the points difference in both the Uf and UGA games, so if we do the same against LSU it is a win this year. :dance2:

Wait a darn minute. I'm not taking the bait this time. I'm only expecting us to win the games we should win. We're gonna lose this one, let's just hope we can keep it close.

There was improvement and not just in the point lowering. Its just those 1 or 2 plays that a young defense will give up each game. Give them time

We were lucky Aaron Murray wasnt a great quarterback and their best receiver left with a tweaked hammy. Our defense wasnt horrible but were not gonna get much pressure on any QB without some experienced subs for the D-line. The Defensive scheme was good IMO. Not great but overall good. The thing we lack more than anything IMO is an offensive line. An average RB,QB, and receivers can score with a great O line. A great O line can control everything about a game. Im just worried if we can recruit the talent it takes. SEC recruiting isnt what it was when Fulmer dominated it.

The problem is that some people see glimpses versus terrible, terrible teams and then think it translates to conference games. Please notice the difference when playing these two types of games.

i have been on this sight for years never joined just liked reading about tennessee football and recruiting good info but i joined havent posted much die hard tennessee fan i used to yell at the tv but i have a 4 year old on saturdays when tennessee is playing no matter what its go tennessee its a game not life its fun to play and watch i played college ball i know what these boys go through every game is winnable if we play we have a big young o-line very talented coming out of high school no excuse why the run game is that bad my opinion is coaching zone blocking scheme does not work with our running backs period so i dunno what the deal is but its gotta get better this team is young this team is good if they eliminate the bad mistakes and somethings are talent but when it boils down to it its heart last time when we went to alabama did we have a snow balls chance no if it wasnt for a big 8 ft mt cody we have 50/50 shot at that field goal lsu,nc last year we had it won officiating got us on that one but anything can happen and when any team puts it all together anything can happen even agfainst lsu alabama these next 3 games will be tough but the big will get better win or lose this team is on the way back up dooley is a good coach on his way up dooley came in with nothing and by next year u will see a change in maturity and on the field with tennessee so watch out its going to be fun GO VOLS

I said it before that this year will be a 6 loss season. Our depth, talent, and experience are not there by any means. But I am looking for improvement in all areas and Dooley is making those strides. With the problems he faced on arrival to UT, Dooley was looking at least a three year project, and I'm thinking more like four years. Our situation was like a coach coming into a program decimated by a harsh probation.

It wad never going to happen this year. 2012 will be better. Have you seen Dooley recruit? He's doing a bang up job in that department!

Rough stretch ahead for our team and we're probably going to hear some *****in' n moaning from the fanbase.

But, not from me....it's time to nutt up or shut up. Negativity will help nothing. We got to let these guys know that we are behind them all the way.

Win or lose, I pull for the VOLS.

i would not look at the stats to measure improvement because they can be deceiving.

the team is better at pass blocking and the passing game in general. this team is pathetic when it comes to running the ball. no other word can be applied.

defensively, they don't get a pass rush. we are about to see what they look like stopping the run against the next three teams that have a strong running game.

the young kid gives tennessee a good kick returner which tennessee hasn't had.

^^^ I would give young a chance to do something on offense

The only difference between this years game and last years game is home field advantage. Go Vols.

Win or lose, these boards are going to go even more nuts these next few weeks. Personally, im just hoping we don't lose any more starters against the two best teams in the nation. Prepare yourselves!

Wow! You lost me at greatness. There was no point in continuing the read. Just wow!

You didn't see glimpses of greatness between hunter, bray and Rogers? I did and so did many others.

I don't assess greatness against the likes of Montana, Cincinnati, and Buffalo. You have to beat elite competition to be great. Those teams were FAR from elite competition.
