Implications will be very bad

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the fans took a stand against what happened yesterday, but the implications of this could be tragic. We may not see a good coach, or AD touch our program for a long time. Too much pressure and we're in too bad of a spot right now. I think we will be feeling the effects of this years from now.

There are plenty of UT grads that understand and are capable of filling both positions

Our athletic department just got worse!! Like you said, no good ad or coach will dare come here now. It's time to realize this.

I don't worry that it could get any worse that the season we just had. A Tennessee team has never went 4 and 8. I don't think it can get worse than the last ten years as we keep hiring coaches not qualified for the SEC. Our AD doesn't understand what it takes to win in the SEC evidently he thinks any old coach will do.

As much as I don't want to agree with you, I do. Honestly this hire we make right now probably doesn't even matter, we'll be lucky to get anyone at this point. The only thing that will heal this wound is time

We get it. Now do us a favor and go crawl back in your hole.

YOU are a moderator? Seriously?? Bar is set pretty low apparently. I would think you would welcome divergent opinions and points of view, even if different from your own. That what mods do, no?

Instead, you tell the poster to "crawl back into your hole"

Hmmm...

If we are going to be "BAD" for so long, why not go out and buy some players like Auburn did. I would say ole miss, but they got caught. Good Players around a steamy pile of a coach can produce results. I cite auburn 2010.

However, if the butthurt sunshine pumpers would grow a pair, and realize this is what happens in a battle, then they would realize that sure there is collateral damage, but you can begin to rebuild the empire on solid rock. Instead of repairing the old one with wood from the junkyard. Take the whole thing down, who cares. We have seen what our team is like currently, and the next recruiting class is gone, so might as well scrap it and rebuild with minds that want to win, and be great! Not a fast buck and a launching pad to something else, or a MF'ing buyout.

All of this rah, rah BS is just that BS! Yep be Proud! You stood up and prevented the big bad man from becoming coach! Guess what? WE probably prevented us from getting any freaking coach! Who in their right mind would step into this toxic nasty environment? No one in their right mind! We just went through three crappy coaches and we will all be wishing that Schiano is our Coach come this time next year! "A" coach is better than "NO" coach! The IDIOT that actually takes this job will amount to "NO" coach! I don't think there is enough money on this planet to get any quality Coach to take this job! So lets all pat ourselves on the back for a job well done! Damn the consequences because we made a stand!!!!

I feel ya, but I don't buy into what your selling, so go cry in your beer:)

I think the town drunks lynched Schiano on a jaywalking violation while Chester was in charge on a Sunday afternoon and Marshall Dillon was out of town. Greg Schiano was not a bad candidate at all for UT - he is known as a great recruiter - knows Florida extremely well as former Miami coach. He has totally rebuilt a college program from scratch and was an NFL head coach for 2 years. Currently Assistant Head Coach for one of top programs in nation. It is extremely unfortunate the way this all went down and I hope UT can attract a decent candidate but wow this is totally uncharted territory moving forward.

Have you watched the last ten years?? Whats ten more years because it's obvious the Haslam puppeteers DGAF about this football program.

No coach or AD will touch us? Shutoff the lights and padlock the doors.

Nah we will be fine. Fans are blowing this way out of proportion. There's no more pressure than there has always been. There are plenty of good candidates that would take the job. I would start with Miles or Brohm. Either way we will be fine.

Top programs in the nation? The same top program that give up 55 to freakin Iowa??

Rebuilt a college team, yea that 68-67 record had allstar all over it.

All the Tampa Bay players hated him. They all called him Castro because he was a Richard to play for.

I assure you, next year, I will not wish we had hired Schiano. Schiano would have been a source of embarrassment for his entire tenure. Every recruiting battle with Clemson would feature a slide show of the deposition. His well documented tantrums and dislike from his players would be featured. If you want a coach that doesn't win and is disliked by his players and assistants, you should have lobbied to keep Butch. At least he hasn't been accused of ignoring child molesters.

Your attitude is the problem. Sometimes you can't just fall in line and follow the directions of the leadership when it will take you off a cliff. A good coach will come here when you get the Haslams out of the way the same way Bama did when they told their big booster to get out of the way and hired Saban and gave him free reign to bring in who they want.

Implications for not stopping the hire: we have Schiano for the next 4-5 years and after he is fired, the Haslams are still ruining our program by calling the shots.

Seems like a good trade off

This will go away like all the stuff that happened at Penn St..

The difference is that Penn St is winning football games.

If Tennessee continues to wade around in the muck, people will continue to bring up the Schiano hiring.
