The letters of termination for two assistant football coaches reveal the possible recruiting violations the University of Tennessee may face from the NCAA..."It is clear from the information that we have received that you were aware of the arrangement of impermissible recruiting visits and the provision of impermissible inducements to prospective student-athletes in violations of NCAA rules, or at a minimum had reasonable cause to believe that violations may be occurring," the letters state.

I hope UT doesn't get hit too hard.

That's a double-edged sword. If the NCAA goes light and doesn't corroborate UT's claims of multiple Level I and II infractions then Pruitt's impending law suit would have more legs and his buyout comes back into play. That buyout is north of 12 million.

I think UT fired all the people involved and the players involved are in the portal or would be suspended. I think dropping wins and a scholarship or two or a 1 year postseason ban would be at worst we would get.

I wonder when Plowman, Boyd, and Fulmer were made aware of the possible violations. If they just became aware of them in November, stated the investigation, didn't allow the coaches and players to participate in games after they were made aware of the problem, They have acted prudently in the investigation and termination of the offending coaches and others found to be involved. Hopefully the NCAA will give strong consideration to the quick action of the university and not be extremely hard on it. I suspect there will be self imposed penalties by the university such as bowl ban for 1-2 year, scholarship reductions.

Last I checked Integrity is a cornerstone principle in all of Academia. With that said, these are student-athletes and if they were in on the take then why isn't the NCAA or the university handing down punishments to the players. They know better! The problem will never be corrected when only the University is targeted and not the athletes and coaches themselves.

Sadly, maybe those are the ones transferring out, and possibly the ones de-committing. Possibly they may have been told they need to move on or that the university would not honor their scholarship.

SMU was hit hard but I think the stark difference is that unlike SMU, UT conducted an immediate internal investigation once it caught wind of allegations and showed coaches the door and allowed for the AD to "retire." I think this may be the saving grace of UT football. This current UT administration appears to be savvier than I have originally given them credit. I suspect lawyers smarter than probably any of us are hand walking them through the process.

Hopefully we get off light on this and just a slap on the wrist.
ND just got a year probation with recruiting limitations a YEAR after they committed some LII infractions and I don't think it was but one or two. We are talking LI and LII here and it sounds like more than a couple. We going to get azz raped. It may be sometime in 2022 before we know the full impact from the NCAA. Hopefully I'm wrong but am expecting it to be bad.

If Miami got off in 2011 while on Probation and receiving another letter of infractions in reference to the Nevin Schaperio case, we should be fine. By definition that stint should have been eligible for the "Death Penalty," which IMHO will never be levied again. See also Penn State Child rape U case.
If Miami didn’t get hammered we have no business getting blasted. The Penn State stuff is a different discussion altogether IMO.

The NCAA investigation found little hard evidence in the Schaperio case, that's why they let Miami censure itself.

We can drop every win in the Pruitt era...talk about receiving a slap on the wrist.

NCAA botched the investigation when they requested the FBI add impermissible benefits given to Miami players into the Ponzi scheme investigation into Nevin Schaperio. Have to do your own homework, not ask the Feds to do your heavy lifting. Case dismissed at that point, no credibility on the part of the plaintiffs. Damage was done due to the sheer amount of time that passed under cloud of uncertainty, which I would honestly be more afraid of than actual punishment.
