We're a little over half way through the season. There have been some surprises for me with regards to how some players have contributed throughout the year. Some have made impacts both positively but some negatively when it really matters.

Positive Impacts:
Zach Rogers
AJ Johnson
Herman Lathers
CP

Negative Impacts:
Entire kicking team
Secondary
Tyler Bray

Feel free to argue or add to it. :salute:

Wowzers.

Dont misunderstand. I think for the most part, bray has been good. However, I just dont see him coming through when it matters.

And yes, I admittedly have been a sunshine pumper up until UGA, Miss St, and SC. I have become a realist.

Neal had shown some improvement until he got hurt and Lane ran the ball well against USCe. I think a lot of their success is do to CJG and the play of the O-line. None the less they both have still looked better than last year.

I agree about lane. I see a total transformation this year from last. No dancing around. He hits the hole hard. :birgits_giggle:

Entire offensive line, running backs and Mccullers, ZR, CP, Dallas, have exceeded expectations from my point of view.

Never said he gained a lot of yards. He didn't do a lot of dancing around in the backfield like it did last year.

Yes, that is true. Jay Graham has really done a good job of getting Lane to hit the hole and eliminated most of that dancing stuff. He got really ripped down with a borderline horse collar against USCjr and that may have shook him up a little. He was ok but not great.

Against Bama, he was juiced!

I thought running well usually = yards.

Yeah, Lane ran a lot harder against Bama imho. For some reason, he seems to show up nasty some weeks, and not so much other times. May be a factor of how his knee feels or something?

He runs tough. His best days at RB are still ahead of him.

I think running well can equal yards and I think most of us hope it equals yards, but I think for Lane seeing him hit the hole and not dance around in the back field like he did last year is running well for him. It's improving for him. Makes me think that he will be an above average back in the future.

I really hope you are right about his best days at RB are still ahead of him. I think if CJG gets another year of coaching him Lane COULD really show out.

Impact: Tiny, McCullers, Running Game, CP, ZR (thanks to Hunter and CP), AJ Johnson. I like Pig and think he can be like a Percy Harvin in the future

I am excited to see what Pig can do in the future. I think he is going to have that big play ability that we have been missing for a long time.

By far, I'm most surprised by White Lightning. Total transformation from last year. He has been very consistent.

I never thought I would say that!

90 to 95 % of the Defense has been a dissapointment. I get that this is the first year of the 3-4. Some say that was expected, so will it be improved in the 2nd year? I mean what are the realistic expectation of a year 2 3-4.

Watch Pig transfer in the offseason. That's the kind of thing that happens to UT.

Cannot deny that we have had some luck like that in the recent past. Just hope Pig stays out of trouble, keeps his head down and works hard to stay on the team and help this team out.

It would be really nice to have Pig with another year in the O, CP returning (don't think it will happen), Hunter back (again don't think it will happen) and Bray back. Could make for a very explosive offense it they keep their head's in the game.

come on OP - go back and look at the huge plays we have given up this year - you will find good ol #34 in the mix on a LOT of them

and Bray just threw for 4 TD's against one of the best defenses in the country so let's at least put him in the neutral category - hard to say he's a negative unless he is supposed to be playing safety as well

I don't blame Bray for anything. The kids done good. Most of the mistakes that were made, Bray shouldn't have been put in that position, thanks to the lousy defense. If UT, had just a little defense, Bray would still be a Heisman candidate.

Z. Rogers, is the man. To me, the only guys that consistently make the plays are ZR, Rivera and Patterson.

Hunter, has the talent but, he's a total crapshoot.

BIG PROPS go out to the O-line. You guys are the best in the SEC.

R. Neil, can stay on the sideline. Lane, is doing a great job and will only get better. He hits the hole hard, has pretty good vision and keeps it North and South.

Like someone else said, Lathers has heart. However, he's been exposed and inconsistent.

AJ Johnson, has had some great moments as well as Jacques Smith.
