Impact on this Class

I agree about the gentlemen's agreement. but I bet every kid Sunseri and Pittman were recruiting have called them. Some just to congratulate them, but others asking "What about me?" Many time recruiters become the #1 face of the school to these kids. They build a strong relationship.

Oh yeah but if the kid makes the first contact then I would think, Game On!!!!:)

Not going to a bowl this year may have been a blessing in disguise.......just think about it.....flame away....but some of these hires may not have happened or recruits may have gone elsewhere...

A lot of factors I know, but I like the way this has gone down even if it meant missing a bowl....

We needed to regroup and reset...a non bowl event is allowing I think for more stability......

I'm just glad to see we have a DC in place. Now does he hire a linebacker coach and coach the DB's or does he coach the linebacker's and hire a DB coach? :pardon:

Why do I continue to read things about the DB position? Did Joseph get fired or move to another program? I realize that very few of us are pleased with his performance as a DB coach.
If he is to remain on the staff and not coach the DB's, what will he be? The recruiting co cordinator???

Because we're sitting at 18th right now, we've got a handful of commits to go to finish this class, and they're all likely going to be 4stars or better. I honestly can't see this class finishing any worse than 12th.

Appreciated.

Agree with you also...I just quickly scrolled through the Rivals 250 list and there are about 10 uncommitted guys alone that UT is still in on off the top of my head. Pretty impressive selection of players that are going to be filling out the last remaining spots in this class. Top 12 is going to happen, thats a fact!

Agree 100%. This class is a top 10 lock now and 2013 will be pushing top 5 for sure. We have one of the best recruiting staffs as it stands now with a couple more coaching hires to go.

This off season is going to be a lot of fun, I know I'm pretty damn excited

You do know we are number 20 on ESPN so how are we gonna jump 10 spots in 3 weeks with the guys we have targeted?

I was referring to Rivals rankings. I don't really follow ESPN's that closely but last year UT finished 13th in both, and UT is currently 19th on Rivals, so they probably aren't too far off.

We're still going to take 5-6 more commits and all of them will likely be very highly rated. If we add 5 more 4stars that will give us 14 total and should put us comfortably inside the top 12, and maybe just inside the top 10, I would think.

Maybe Thunder (or someone else who has the rivals formula) could help us out...what would our point total be if we added 5 more 5.8 4stars to the class?

Agreed. Top 10 class IS attainable. The staff is about to man up and make it happen.

Looking at my Junior thunder5 Decoder Spreadsheet...

If Tennessee gets that that magic going again and gets 5 more 5.8 4–stars (Rivals) they’ll end up in what I would consider the traditionally top 15. Same if they get 6 more.

I’m hedging my bet because we’re not in on any 5–star and Rivals gives them far too much credit. I’m also not throwing in bonus points for rankings, because I just don’t know...how to do that...

The way I reckon it, this year’s final ranked teams 10–20 will be about a 200 point differential—very close. The haves are really hogging all the talent. But Tennessee will be one of those talent hogs, it appears.

Also, that stupid 25 LOI limit is just stupid. SEC teams are gonna not look as impressive because of it. I understand what it was meant to do, but it’s just stupid.

Hope that helps figure things out some.

The DC change is starting to look it could pay major dividends for this class. Because of the job Wilcox and Sirmon did selling the program as opposed to themselves, we are in a position to keep all of the players we already had (I don't count Crawley because he's an academic risk and was already looking around) and because of Coach Sal we are in a great spot to swoop on some guys before NSD.

Who knows how it will work out on the field, but for recruiting, this was all for the best.

I was going to start a similar thread but will just add to yours.

We now get to see the positive side of coaching changes: "Hi, My name is Sal. As you know I just recently joined UT as DC for Derek Dooley. I didn't know at first considering some of the struggles at UT lately but my interview blew me away. DD has a great plan... and working with Saban I've seen great plans... for getting UT to the top in a hurry. If I didn't believe it would I have left a national championship program where I would soon have an opportunity for promotion?

I have never seen a better life program for players than VFL.... You are exactly the kind of student athlete we're looking for to push UT back to the top"

So now that we have a DC and an OL coach, who else are we targeting as assistants? I don't see Sunseri brining anybody from Bama (but then again I was thinking he would never leave Bama) and how well do we sit with Bisaccia?

Y'all, I know how hard it is to find this stuff on the internet...but we actually have a DB coach. We've had him for two years.

Don't worry about rankings. They mean nothing. Worry about filling our needs and voids more than anything else.

This is a damn fine class even if we did not get another recruit. Imagine this class with a few more recruits. at tome key spots, such as RB and DT.

The rumor is we're going to hire another secondary coach and the new guy will coach either the safeties or corners with TJ handling the other position.

People hear that we're going to hire another DB coach and get excited. I will admit I hope TJ is coaching safeties and not corners if this shakes out.
