David Pollack's visceral negative reaction to Pruitt is a far, far more encouraging sign for the Vols' future than the endorsement of random Internet guy who has an obvious agenda. No joke.
I think Pollack and Murray's issue is personal not professional, having to do with CJP's relationship with Richt.

Maybe. I tend to think so.

But losing to SC shook my confidence a little. We are still making the same mistakes with penalties. The defense and offense takes turns disappearing at the worst moments.

It’s likely just that the legacy of Butch Jones is still too strong. That guy mixed with John Currie as AD was as incompetent as it gets. It’s like our program tried to commit suicide.

Coach Pruitt has a lot of work left to do. I think we have all been burned too many times by flashes of false promise to be in anything other than “believe it when I see it” mode.

You’re good, my friend. We’re all just sick of false pity and “endorsements” from fans who want no success in Knoxville. Appreciate the sentiment.

If it were any other employer Pollack and Murray would've been re educated in tact, but with it being ESPN apparently the HR department is extremely limited to what they may limit employees to.

I agree. People are gonna bit*h about this n that but with this roster, we were lucky to win any sec games. The coaching staff is obviously having some growing pains, but this is the time to figure it out, in year 1. Overall I like where we seem to be headed more than where the last 2 coaches had us going. I thought that Butch brought a system that was a bad fit for Tennessee. Imo our identity is not to be a finesse tricky offense/ spread team. We need to reemphasize dominating both lines of scrimmage and recruit linemen that aren't gonna let us get manhandled every game. We have gotten soft and it shows. Nobody can block or tackle consistently, and our team speed and composure at times is at most positions embarrassing. There has been improvement though. We need more players plain and simple. Faster receivers and secondary, defensive players who can tackle consistently, and players with a high football iq have been replaced with too many diamond in the rough project type recruits, and they were developed poorly. This is not news to any of the people who follow the team. What I'm trying to say is even though Pruitt and his staff have not been perfect, they don't seem to have fundamental team philosophy and identity problems that previous staffs all too often displayed. Pruitt knows what caliber players we need. He also seems to recognize game changing momentum swings and though not always successfully is nonetheless willing to make some gutsy calls to try and turn them in our favor. It shows balls, and with a better team, swagger. It shows confidence and expectations of winning that years ago even underdog Volunteer teams had as the bare minimum. Neyland Stadium is a sleeping giant. If our tired fans can hang on a bit longer, this staff will give them a product worth cheering for. The days of talking shower discipline, Rommel, life champions, and moral victories are over, and as much as I think is possible since the administration insists on hiring coaches that lack head coaching experience and winning records at even middle of the road conferences in some cases, we got a coach that will work out. It's unfortunately like we keep hearing all too often gonna take some time.

TLDR: Pruitt will work out. Forgive my meandering unfocused long windedness.

Thank you. We think so too and reckon we'd like to keep him. Speaking of one another's good coaches, that new analyst you guys hired, Jones, will probably make a good offensive coordinator for you guys soon and in time could make a good head coach for you whenever Coach Saban is ready to retire, that is if the analyst ever decides to pursue such a position. Even so, most of us feel pretty good about the trade provided Jones gets promoted soon so that he doesn't lose any of his remaining buyout money for not pursuing a position similar to head coach (since analyst isn't even close) according to the conditions stipulated in the contract he signed. Of course, if he just stays the analyst, that would benefit our school more since it demonstrates a refusal to abide by the terms of the agreement of the buyout due to failing to meet the requirements of that clause. School budget aside, it would be a pity for him and his family to lose that much income since the remaining years of his Tennessee head coaching salary left on his contract is millions of dollars more than the lowly analyst salary at Alabama. That's a lot of money to lose for breach of contract. Then again, if it should happen that way, I'm sure we could hire some scouting analysts with the difference once things are made right.

To the guy asking about orange hats south of the border, I would wear my orange hat for faster service since the staff would know they wouldn't have to wait for me to sound out the letters of the menu items like many of the crimson hat wearers. This way they know I'm ready to conduct business upon entering, so they're ready to take my order without delay. I'm only teasing you with some good-natured ribbing in this post. I don't really eat at the McDonalds in either state and I'm sure most crimson hat wearers have the menu memorized just like Jones did the best he could so it's not even an issue.

I've said this awhile about our dysfunctional past 10 years. With a smattering of good decisions like Barnes, the rest is like we said let's take the logical and best decision for our university and do the exact opposite.

That was a funny episode. George decided that instead of hiding the flaws he felt were hindering his dating life for as long as he possibly could, that he'd be up front about who and where he was in life at the earliest opportunity. To his surprise, instead of turning the new women he met away, it had the opposite effect.

Same episode is what I'm sure most Vol fans have wanted to tell UT power brokers.

It wasn't offensive, they're making remarks because rivals usually endorse a coach that they don't find a threat.
Never take the comments on this board too personal or even too serious, for that matter.
It's like having your hated EX giving an endorsement to your hot girlfriend.

I will be convinced, once we get talent on the field and we win a game based on coaching
If we get out coached and lose, then he is not the answer. Will take years before our talent level & depth are not the reason for us losing games though

...to be replaced by Dabo, and the cycle continues :p
Yeah I don't know if that is going to happen or not, but even if it does I personally don't think that Dabo is quite as good as Saban. He will still produce a great team I am sure, but I think there will be some dip in performance. The first season will be a transitional one with more losses that under Saban. After that Dabo will have a much more difficult conference schedule than he is used to, and he won't have the Tide in the same shape by mid season as he has Clemson. The injury bug and body bows fro tough games make coaching Alabama more difficult than Celmson in my opinion.
