I agree. People are gonna bit*h about this n that but with this roster, we were lucky to win any sec games. The coaching staff is obviously having some growing pains, but this is the time to figure it out, in year 1. Overall I like where we seem to be headed more than where the last 2 coaches had us going. I thought that Butch brought a system that was a bad fit for Tennessee. Imo our identity is not to be a finesse tricky offense/ spread team. We need to reemphasize dominating both lines of scrimmage and recruit linemen that aren't gonna let us get manhandled every game. We have gotten soft and it shows. Nobody can block or tackle consistently, and our team speed and composure at times is at most positions embarrassing. There has been improvement though. We need more players plain and simple. Faster receivers and secondary, defensive players who can tackle consistently, and players with a high football iq have been replaced with too many diamond in the rough project type recruits, and they were developed poorly. This is not news to any of the people who follow the team. What I'm trying to say is even though Pruitt and his staff have not been perfect, they don't seem to have fundamental team philosophy and identity problems that previous staffs all too often displayed. Pruitt knows what caliber players we need. He also seems to recognize game changing momentum swings and though not always successfully is nonetheless willing to make some gutsy calls to try and turn them in our favor. It shows balls, and with a better team, swagger. It shows confidence and expectations of winning that years ago even underdog Volunteer teams had as the bare minimum. Neyland Stadium is a sleeping giant. If our tired fans can hang on a bit longer, this staff will give them a product worth cheering for. The days of talking shower discipline, Rommel, life champions, and moral victories are over, and as much as I think is possible since the administration insists on hiring coaches that lack head coaching experience and winning records at even middle of the road conferences in some cases, we got a coach that will work out. It's unfortunately like we keep hearing all too often gonna take some time.
TLDR: Pruitt will work out. Forgive my meandering unfocused long windedness.
