Fulmer had a long and frustrating habit of overestimating opponents and by doing so keeping games competitive when he should have trucked the other team. Steve Spurrier's genius was in part that he just didn't do that. He might have been a little more prone to underestimating an opponent... but even if so his guys believed him.
