I really am willing to forgive the rough start. As ugly as it has looked for most of the first three games, we are 3-0. In the end, that's all that matters.

But that goes both ways. These next four games, I don't want to hear about injuries, bad luck, or questionable calls. I don't want to hear about tough losses or how 'close' we are. We are beyond the point of looking for bright spots or reasons for optimism in otherwise disappointing performances. It's time for this staff and team to deliver.

Wins should be mandatory this time around. Four wins would be exceptional. Three would be acceptable. Two would be disappointing. Anything less would be failing. And if we're honest with ourselves, letting the Alabama streak hit ten would be embarrassing, while letting the Florida streak hit twelve would be humiliating.

These next four games provide Butch Jones a great opportunity to show he's the right man for the job. If he fails to do so, no amount of domination against the remaining patsies would make up for it.

You're willing to forgive our best start since '04? I'll let Butch know

Typically since '04 we've played Florida 2nd or 3rd. You really want to use that line of thinking this week?

talk about streaks..the last time we beat florida was in 2004..our record 3-0..an omen maybe? maybe? but the real thing here is we need more fire and passion from our front line..we need them to BLOW everyone back and create the hole to run in and stop letting someone in the backfield in less than 2 seconds...you cannot throw that fast or hit a hole running.. it is not next man up...it should be TIME TO MAN UP EVERYONE AND DO YOUR DANG JOB...please VOLS get it fixed...cannot live thru another disappointing Saturday...

i agree, there's no need to forgive 3-0.

but it won't mean anything, and no one will care about it if we lose Saturday.

just like no one will be going back and reliving the pre season glory of top 10 rankings, recruiting classes and uniform championships.

Jones was correct in saying that the sloppiness that has held them back has come from players who have proven they can do it well.

IMO, the O is right on the cusp of being very good. If Hall replaces Thomas then I think the OL gets better. My fear is that whatever bias Jones has always had against Kendrick and for Thomas will make Kendrick the odd man out.

The D will be as good as Shoops ability to protect or replace Jumper. The kid has heart. He gets to where he's supposed to be. He makes the calls effectively. But he is a weak tackler.

Unless they're just truly that bad.... I do not understand why some of the others do not get a shot.

All well reasoned and, I think, accurate

I'm really sick of the 3-0 stats. Is it great that we are undefeated? Absolutely. Are we normally undefeated going into Florida week? In years we don't play Oklahoma, absolutely.

So again, please stop. Let's beat Florida then chat 'em up

"Letting" the Alabama streak hit ten???????

I am so glad to know the only way Alabama beats us is because we let them. Someone call Butch and tell him to stop being so kind. It has nothing to do with them being the defending National Champion and the best team in the country this year.

I agree with the OP in the sense that the last five games are irrelevant. We have the talent and the experience... Butch must show us over the course of the next four games that we also have the coaching.

The only explanation I can come up with is they play people they can trust. Shoop has gone on record to say Jumper knows the defense in and out but he doesent have the abilities. He didn't say the last part but the proof is in the tape.

I really think losing Hall had an effect on the O line. When he played they played with attitude he doesent play they are completely lost. Dobbs will work himself out we get what we get.

Unlike other weeks. There won't be one nega-Vol on this website if we win on Saturday.

That's because there is no such thing. We are all fans. Some have different points of view....but we all support this team and want to beat Florida.

The Nega-Vol/Sunshine Pumper dynamic is bordering on absurd. Check your superfan status at the door.

Never underestimate the power of a the self proclaimed highly informed rational thinkers. The great Nega-Vol can find a particle of feces in the most refined bottle of sparkling spring water.

If they miss their daily Prozac it would be hours of entertainment even after the celebrations of the win died down.

As opposed to the elite sunshine pumpers blindly following the scent of Butch's posterior.

Do you really not understand what he means? I'm being serious.

They are...unfortunately, as is human nature, the extremes give those more moderate in each camp a bad name.

Sadly, an empty cask is easily rolled. Many aren't able to discern the common ground, and grasp onto the differences instead.
