I read another quote too that he said that I was shocked about, and it just seems to me like the stress of the job is really starting to hit Dooley and it is showing.

He was talking to the reporters about expectations for Bray. That they would expect him to jump back in without missing a beat is silly. He then spoke about Bray thinking he could play last week, and DD said, "no you can't". That's when he said that he's the only one around with a sense of reality. It had nothing to do with bashing coaches or other dramatic bs. He was laughing a joking with reporters about bray and they kept asking the same stuff. He was just adding some fluff. Go figure it's taken to another level.

Well, I for one am glad to know he is living in reality.
He'd better, or he won't be living in Knoxville many more years.

I'm cheering for him to suceed, but sometimes I wonder.

Makes sense.

I do have to say that he likes to turn the reality machine on the kids, but doesn't tend to turn it on himself or staff very often.

I think telling people that a QB with a broken thumb isn't ready is about as real as you can get. That effects the whole team, not just the players.

Hence, I said it makes sense. Other comment was just my take on his sense of reality.

When has he not shown reality towards himself or staff? We don't know what goes on behind closed doors, just because he doesn't do it publicly doesn't mean he doesn't hold them accountable.

If he's for keeping things private, he should afford players the same courtesy. They're all in it together.

Dooley has been pretty realistic from the start. Most of the comments he's made concerning the condition of the program he inherited or the need to re-build the roster have been accompanied by some statement about realizing that the only thing that eventually counts is wins.

He knows he has to win to keep the job regardless of how bad the situation was. That is also why he built a little time into his contract with respect to the buyout.

I do not know if Dooley will ever get it done on game day. But he's about as candid and realistic as I have ever seen from a coach. He combines it with humor to take a little of the edge off... but he basically called Bray stupid for thinking he was ready.

What does it say about Justin Worley when you whine that you might have to start Tyler Bray even though he has a broken thumb and is no where near being healthy. What does it say about your assistant coaches when you claim to be the only person in the whole organization who has a clear sense of reality?

Speak reality about your players to the public, and top flight recruits think they have a good shot at coming in and competing for a starting position. Speak reality about your coaches in public and it might deter those same recruits from signing on if that coach is at their position. Not to mention the ammo he would give opposing coaches in recruiting.

What does it say about you when you constantly come on here and cry and whine about Dooley? We both know the answer.....
