This has been an example of my recent posts from the week:
The sunshine pumpers, a group I have long considered myself a member of, have been out in full force disputing me this week with "x amount of freshmen" and "process" and "Butch is a good coach" and "go cheer for someone else" etc etc.
I think I speak for every "nega-vol", and everyone who has shared my attitude when I say that I am not upset about the loss. We could be ranked #1, and Florida could be having a Vandy-style meltdown, and they are still going to beat us. I have accepted that. I'm upset because this loss changes both the dynamic and the perception of this team. Instead of being encouraged after the fight we brought to Georgia, I'm more upset now, because I now see the Georgia game as yet another example of this team just not knowing how to win, and instead knowing very well how to turn ANY situation into a loss.
Losing doesn't bother me. No one said we were winning the NC this year. Losing when we should win bothers me, and bothers me a lot. And it happens a lot with this program.
That being said, I'm bouncing back now. I feel better about the state of UT football. Again, no one said we were going to win the National Championship this year. We still control our own fate. I'm not saying it will happen, it likely won't, but the opportunity to win out, play for the East, and go to a huge bowl game is stil on the table. Again, it's not likely, but the possibility of it happening still exists. And that possibility will continue to keep me glued to my TV on Saturdays. If we lose a couple more, the possibility of winning 7 plus a bowl game will still keep me glued to the TV.
In the end, UT football will still keep me glued to my TV, and will still keep me off my seat in Neyland. There is still time, and I choose to believe Team 118 is not a team of losers who have no clue how to win.
GBO...... no matter what.
Lot of "bad days" in the past few years of TN football. In fact, unless the opposing team is DRAMATICALLY less talented than Tennessee, it's a "bad day" everytime minus SC of last year.
I'm done with "bad days". Start finding out how to win.
Good for you guys for being encouraged!!!!
I'm not.
I can see the story unfolding now:
Ole Miss overlooks the Vols. Vols smack Ole Miss in the mouth. Vols are dominant in every category. and Ole Miss is down big with 4 minutes left in the 4th. Tennessee has the game in the bag! Tennessee chokes and comes up with a very creative and inventive way to still lose the game!! Ole Miss wins!!!!
No we aren't. We are a team at a complete and utter standstill that, just like last year, still finds a way to choke away what should be certain victory. Regardless of the fact that we have upgraded big time in our skill positions. Kentucky is a team on the rise. We are a team with massive potential, but we will be "on the rise" when we can actually beat a couple of decent opponents.
