I think this is one of those rare occasions that it is appropriate not to share your thoughts especially with people that have actually lived through it all.
a little empathy never hurt anyone right?

What does the football team's turnaround have to do with the storm?

Why can't they enjoy the turnaround without whining about the storm?

What's wrong with letting me enjoy their turnaround as a sports fan without being subjected to a weather story a year and a half old?
if you had just stayed with this, i think more people would probably agree with you.
I am going to have to agree with O^2 on this one. Regardless of what the residents of New Orleans have had to deal with since Katrina, the effect on the actual millionaires playing for the Saints was incremental, at most.

If the broadcasters want to tell a feel good story, then they should stick to the story that the Saints have been absolutely horrible for much of their history and today they played for the NFC Championship. However, their success has little or nothing to do with the trials that the residents of New Orleans have experienced.
that's a rational way of looking at it and had OS stayed on this particular path of thougt, i don't think this thread would have taken the nasty turn it did.
You're not the only one. This thread has almost 100 views. The TWO positive Saints threads have a total of 5. But I'm the bad guy for saying it I guess.
no, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

I agree that there should be some sort of relaxing on the symbiotic relationship to the Saints success and Katrina. It takes more that a simple sport(Championship or not) to save a region from the ongoing pain and continual hardships caused by the storm.

If the Saints success can add some pride and happiness as brief as it may be, to some of the residents down there, then that's great. The problem is that some peple think or project an opinion that Katrina is all in the past and everything is fixed. It's still a disaster area down there, and many on the outside are insensitive and mis-informed.

I wouldn't go around telling people that you dislike those you disagree with. That makes you look pretty foolish and close-minded.

I dislike people I agree with, as well, so I'm not disliking people I disagree with. I dislike people who make me sick. And you ... made me sick.

LOL Sorry, I just find it funny I am hated for having an opinion and it's funny to me that you would admit it.

You probably need a lesson in either reading comprehension or vocabulary. I'm not sure which.

A) I never said I hated you. I dislike you, now.

B) I don't dislike you BECAUSE YOU HAVE an opinion. I dislike you BECAUSE OF what your opinion IS. A lot of people these days really confuse these two things. I'm allowed to dislike people if their opinions differ from mine.

C) As for it being funny, I'm sorry. You completely misunderstood everything I said, so your inability to follow along COULD BE funny.

No, I understand. It's funny that you would "dislike" someone simply because you disagree with them.

It shows me your true colors.

We all do it, and it's not bad. Some people dislike homosexuals because they disagree with their lifestyles. I guarantee you dislike someone because you disagree with them. Disagreeing is okay, disliking is okay, and it doesn't make me any less classy.

EDIT: There are a ton of people I disagree with that I LIKE.
