Some people need to ban social media completely and you can please start here.

I was completely on board with the outcry that put a stop to a guy who likely turned a blind eye to a pedophile, however protesting and burning your UT gear just because we don't get a splash hire is pathetic. It also proves what many in the media accused the fanbase of with regard to the Schiano reaction. All the protesting had little to do with a true scandal but he wasn't a blonde haired blue eyed pretty boy that could win a press conference and more to do with the fact he wasn't fancy pants enough for you so called Big Orange fans.

So burn your gear and get out. More tickets available for fans of the program and not fans of the coach.

Fans of the program don't want the face of said program to suck. All the outrage would have been self contained if Currie didn't screw up in such a public way with a Schiano, fans are mad that we kept a mediocre coach with possible baggage away from the program just to hire Butch Jones 2.0.

People like you are the problem.

People like me warned you bunch of FahrButch boys it would be an absolute debacle to fire FCBJ this year. But nooooo, you silly little guys kept whining until you got what you wanted and here we are...

The real problem is folks like you who've never coached/played/fired someone/hired someone or done anything of note have access to social media...

I'll still love my Vols. I'm an adult and won't simply change allegiances out of anger about a coach...aside from a Schiano type.

But I won't spend the money on a 9 hour trip to Knoxville. I won't spend $100 on the annual Nike shoe. I will not buy my kids Vols gear for xmas.

I'll watch em on TV from Pennsylvania. I'll cheer when they win and I'll be mad when they lose.

I'll also start going to games elsewhere for leisure. Purdue is a nice jaunt. As is OSU, PSU and Michigan State. Even WVU hosts some decent teams.

But I'll still be a Vol fan. Too many awesome memories to stop now.

The real problem this season was a coach who couldn't parlay 4 top 15 classes into a 6-6 season.

Currie had no choice but to fire Botch and he did everything he could to keep from it.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Anyone with any sense knew that Butch had to go. We just had the worst season in over 120+ years of football, with an average recruiting class on par with Clemson over the last 5 years.

The fans aren't the problem. The inept administration that is in charge on the hill really screwed this up

When I look at my UT memorabilia filling my law office all I now see is the frustration and underachieving we have suffered through over the past decade or more. I see the incompetence of those leading the program and their utter failure to recognize that winning is the fuel that feeds the engine. We don't pay our money, make sacrifices and give our support to see the thing we love fail miserably and become a joke. Our competitive nature is weakened by failure after failure. I along with others have fought the feeling of inferiority as a program and made excuses about what we are knowing all along that I was deluding myself. Annually my enthusiasm would build as I followed recruiting and anxiously waited for next year to finally arrive, remembering the experiences of my youth and the success of the 90s. Disappointment after disappointment would cause me to second guess why I cared so much. Time after time I would return ready for a new battle and the opportunities that challenges brought. I along with others are simply exhausted from this never ending carousel feeling like the proverbial hamster running the ring, expending all that energy in chasing something but getting nowhere. I have never quit at anything and I won't stop being a Vol. However, the enthusiasm and enjoyment of flying my colors will be gone and my dollars will be invested in something more promising than an underachieving football program run by idiots.

The real real problem is hombres like you that sit on a high horse and think that true fans support the program NO MATTER WHAT BY GOD, when in reality all that does is get us where we are right now. At some point you have to say no more and we have gotten there fast quick and in a hurry.

Embrace the fundamental change that the administration is bringing to UT. The academic institution will be regarded as highly as an Ivy League University. To accomplish this, in their minds, the main driver of UT must be destroyed. They have to kill the Football program.

It's a big day for Haslam to prove once again who is in charge, and our little Twitter storm over Schiano only poked the bear. He's going to Cleveland Brown us whether we like it or not

This inept administration was in place this entire season while the Fahr Butch boys were in full voice.

So while i agree the majority of the fans aren't the problem, the vocal minority of fans who have too much access to social media are a very large part of the problem.

I hate to say this and it really breaks my heart especially with all the old memories, all the time, the effort, the money we have spent over the years, but today is a big day for me.

Today is a big day and whether I completely check out or not as a life long loyal fan.

I've seen what this program has been and what it can be and I just can't take anymore.

I can't support people (the administration) at Tennessee that don't truly support the university's success.

Everything in Knoxville runs through that football field. Believe that.

If Dave Doeren is hired I most likely won't go to any games this coming season.

We are annual donors who have been on the lower west side for over 30 years. I'm no Haslam by any stretch. But I'm a life long and decades long donor.

I can't believe the Board of Trustees continue to allow the President and Chancellor to run this once great program into the bottom of the conference.

....and in the same breath they claim to be committed to 300+ million in renovations.

But won't spend fractions of that for a respectable football coach..

It literally is just shameful.

Come over to the dark side...

IF Currie had fired Butch after the UGA game, we would not be in this mess. He waited, hoping that he could turn around the season. It didn't happen and the inevitable had to be done and it was later than needed. That is the problem. If you really believe BJ should be here after the past two seasons, especially the downward spiral of this season, then you have accepted the fact UT won't compete. Many are not willing to accept mediocrity.
You reference business/coaching/playing...could you under-perform for two years at your job and keep it...let alone get a promotion. Facts are facts...he failed and change had to be made. There are plenty of capable coaches out there...when the admin chooses to go after a lower tier coach as option 1...then it gets ugly. And it has gotten ugly and will continue to get ugly until the AD lives up to his word. He said...not me, not posters, not players, not boosters...the HIRING guy said it was going to be "big, expensive and explosive." He set this up.
Reality is that it has become explosive...and i guess big in some eyes, but both of those are not the positive types.

We are all exhausted from the way our coaching search has unfolded and the circus that it has become. We as a fan base have been vilified for rejecting a coach with mediocre results and question marks around his character. We all know that our rivals will take full advantage of our failures and destroy us on the recruiting trail. It is so tough to watch this all happen, and all we can do is hold onto hope that our esteemed administration stumbles onto a great coach who is willing to wade into this unbelievably bad situation and pull us through to greatness.

Yep, we've been season ticket holders (not as long as you), but we've been there for a long time---even through the Dooley years.

Like you we're at the point where the coaching announcement will determine if we continue to attend games. I'm not a Kiffin or Gruden fan, but I am a fan of an administration that's dedicated to the restoration of UT football. I guess we're about to see just how dedicated this administration is.

I remember as a kid in the early 70s walking around the yard and sitting at the picnic listening to the Vols on my transistor radio. Grew up on a farm and didnt have the money or a way to go to a game, I was diehard. My high school football team took a trip in the late 70s to see the Vols in Knoxville to watch Condredge Holloway play and I was the happiest teenager in the world that day.

I'm 57 now, a alumni, and the last 10 years have taken a toll on me. This is the biggest mess I've ever seen, if I ran my company like the UTAD has been run I would be out of business. I dont have first hand info what has transpired but I think most know what the problem is.

Sad, just really sad!
