I'm pulling for Auburn.

Been a UT fan all my life---graduated from UT with my bachelors---currently attend UT in graduate school.

I'm pulling for Auburn. Why?

Because it HAS to get worse before it gets better. No question.

For me, at this point, the ideal season would be to lose every game except Alabama.

Fulmer won't go unless the **** really hits the fan.

As the old adage goes, if you can heal the symptoms but not affect the cause, then you're doing nothing.

(sigh) Most of you know me. I've been here for going on three years. You've read my posts. You know where I stand on both UT football, and Phil Fulmer.

I don't agree...completely...with this post. But I do agree with it.

Flame me if you will, and some of you will, but the simple fact is that recent history...and Mike Hamilton's own words...make one thing quite clear. 8 wins is enough, and 7 wins will do. Hamilton has already backed off of earlier remarks about how often he expects to win the SEC Championship, and compete for a National Championship. Since Fulmer couldn't meet the standard, it was lowered.

Sad to say, but it will take an utter collapse by the UT football program to force change.

And change..whether it be the head coach...the whole staff...or just the way this team approaches the game...is long overdue. Most of us would agree on that, yes?

So, mediocrity, or change?

I vote change. If it takes 6-6, or 5-7, or worse, to force that change, then so be it.

I am a UT fan. Before, during, and after the current regime.

Whatever it takes to restore the "Pride of Neyland".

go vols.

I hope you made that argument when you sent you tickets back to Ham.
It was very similar and from a broad leadership perspective. Also touched on the insidious nature of excuse making. We all do it, but it accomplishes nothing but soothed, almost numbed feelings.

I suspect Ham is smart enough to sort this out in his own best interest when all is said and done.

Do you think Ham will figure this out? I haven't given up on him yet, but I really think he'll have no choice this time around.

btw... my guess it that most of the current Ham talk is just PR.

I just don't think Hamilton's opinion matters in the least here. His pay grade doesn't go there.

Totally agree. It will be more about whether or not he wants to stay at UT or move on with Fulmer.

You need to go to a school where you are really passionate about the ball team.No one ever wants to see us lose purposely.

He IS passionate about the ball team. He is not passionate about the coaching staff.

Where do your loyalties lie? I've read enough of your posts to know you're a UT fan. But which takes precedence...your loyalty to a head coach who fails to make the grade, or to the team that wears the colors you cheer for?

Get off the fence, utf. You can be a UT fan, or a Fulmer fan.

At this point, you cannot be both.

What a crock of crap! I can and will be both a Fulmer and a UT fan. Every one of us owe Phillip Fulmer our gratitude FOR bringing us out of the quagmire of mediocrity in 70's and 80's.

I keep hearing "I just want to get UT back to what it was". What BS, who the heck do any of you think got us there? Here's a hint it wasn't Bill Battle or Johnny Majors.

Obviously most of you are to young or clueless to know or remember our football history since 1973. This notion that we were some big Power House elite football team prior to 1992 is ridiculous.

No matter how any of you spin it, the undeniable fact is that Phillip Fulmer brought us that Elite Status.

As I've said in the past, it may be time for a change but the man does not deserve this.

He deserves our respect and gratitude for what he has done for UT football. Phillip Fulmer is loyal to a fault and his own success is his own worst enemy.

I'm all for winning but I don't want to do it by throwing Phillip Fulmer under the bus. He's given to much to be treated that way. We may have done that with Johnny Majors but it still dosen't make it right.

You should be supporting your team. Do you actually think you have cornered the market on losing????

This will get better. We've been there. I know.

Three secc's in the 80's and a miraculous sugar bowl win.

Definite mediocrity in the late 80's... JM was bringing us out of mediocrity. Fulmer rode the wave of talent

I'm still not sure how you can call yourself a fan and even call yourself a proud graduate when you root against your team no matter how bad things are going. Do I think we are going to lose? Definitely. Do I want Fulmer gone, yes. But I will be cheering and rooting for us as hard as I can

How many of you are drinking the Kool Aid around here? I was yelling as loud as I could during the Florida game up until the second half. Don't question my loyalty to the program as a whole. Here's some stats for you all to ponder upon.

Fulmer's 14-13 in his last 27 SEC games. And this decade, the Vols are just 1-8 at home against Top 10 teams and 17-23 against all nationally ranked teams.

And YOU want to stay with the guy? Give me a break. I've been reading this forum for the past two years---don't judge me by my post amount.
