Some real fans beat a "dead horse" to avoid a dead program!

Sure, the damn coaching staff apparently told Ainge to go out and drill an LSU player in the numbers with the ball. Wow!!! a terrible call from the sidelines.

As a UTK alumni, I feel your smack talk is as weak as your football knowledge.

look you cry babies Erik lost today's game.

Phil does a great job, WE ARE IN THE SEC FOR GOD'S SAKE.
ONLY THE BEST CONFERENCE IN NCAA FOOTBALL!!!!

i've been a fan for 37 years, i've seen way worse.

i only thank God i only have to see Erik dress out for one more game.

geez that boy is hard to watch.

This is probably the truest post in this thread!!! It can get a lot worse guys....I want to see us do better but I'm really torn on running off Fulmer after what he's done for us. I remember the ole' bumper sticker that said "go johnny go & take devoe". Our basketball team did not fair as well as our football team did back then & my fear is we cannot find someone good enough to come in and do better than Fulmer. I also think he needs to quit working like heck to get better and branch out on our worn out "Tennessee Football" system.

I'm disappointed that any UTK alumni feels comfortable wallowing in mediocrity.

Alt + f4 would be a good combination for your tonight.

No where did anyone say they were comfortable wallowing in mediocrity. You are a idiot if you think the coaches lost last nights game. Granted they are rightfully due a majority of the criticism for other losses this season but not this one.

I am not a fulmerite, but I am not going to read your frivolous drivel without calling you out on idiotic comments.

:hmm:

So I take it you're satisfied with the less than Championship play calling.

Frankly, anyone that didn't figure out all 8 passing plays we executed and the 3 running plays all afternoon long is the true idiot.

Heck, if Les Miles figured out our game plan, you know it's weak. Basically until our OC ventured outside the 4-9 yard range (passing) all Les had to do was have 8-9 in the box. Unfortunately, our OC for some reason did not see fit to go vertical. With the repeated shallow air attack every pass was at peril within that limited area. Obviously, that same pathetic play calling resulted in shutting down the running game as well. The play calling became too simplistic, predictable & routine.

It became evident Ainge was having an off day, so please don't subject him to the same old routine scheme over & over & over. It's totally unacceptable for any OC to do that to any qb...unless it is working. It wasn't & didn't even against a battered LSU defensive unit.

WTF?

Just where in the hell have you been all year? We have run the same plays.

Les Miles is in the title game. He can't be as stupid as you and your comments.

honestly, i don't get the ainge hate either. same as the cutcliffe hate. how quickly we forget the dreadful randy sanders/clausen combo.

do you all not remember that it was ainge who got us IN the SEC championship games?

just take a deep breath, realize that it does really suk to lose and get ready to go to tampa.

and know that im not a fulmer apologist anymore either. he has got to make some changes going in to next year. some of those changes that many of us were calling for took shape as the year went on (ie the G-gun formation using our fast players, and starting freshman all over the defense and even offense). and what happened when he did that? we won 5 straight. dont you think fulmer knows thats why?

chalk that SEC champ game up to two bad plays or two great plays depending on who you root for, and accept the fact that it was a GREAT game but we, unfortunately, did get to be on the winning side ot it.

Duh....that is my point we have had the same basic offensive scheme for 30 plus years.

As I read somewhere earlier this game could have easily been referred to as the Dumb vs Dumber Championship Game. I'll admit Fulmer & Staff rely on talent more than their smarts or adjustments to win games. Most LSU Fans I know feel the same about their Head Coach. About the only difference is we seem to be a lot more inbred than the cajun program.

I do not agree that it was Ainge who got us in the SECC game. He played well enough at times but I honestly believe he is not on par with Andy Kelly, Heath Schuler, etc. He is good enough to keep you in some games and hang around to win but not good enough to put the game on his shoulders and take it to the other team.

I do agree that Fulmer has somewhat redeemed himself this year. I don't think he should have gotten a raise and an extension. I also don't think you have to get the entire Vol fanbase calling for your head in order to desire changes within the system. Regardless, you're right, he made necessary changes and got the job done in the end.....hopefully he is smart enough (uh oh) to recognize the success we had after those changes....

Ask yourself how many times we went two quarters with no production and multiple three and outs?! That is bad play calling and execution, and it is Eric Ainge that makes those decisions where to force the ball and when. I wonder how good Foster would have looked this year if he had run half of the balls Eric threw away because he "percieved " pressure. He will have a hard time in the pro's if he even gets there after last nights performance.Either of the Clausens would have won last night period! They were on the field to WIN, and I didn't care much for either of them.
Bring on BJ Coleman and Compton in the bowl game!

games*

from just giving away the SEC title in our last three appearances at the georgia dome to repeated embarassing losses in the peach and outback bowls to the nearly-expected ass beating we get from florida just about every year.

i am tired.

and the fact that i think we CAN do better and DESERVE better does not brand me an untrue fan.

Your patience will be rewarded next season. Just turn the page. Next year will be better. Don't look back on 2007.

Turn the page...

I'd love to believe that, father rasputin. I hope your prophecies are as accurate as the man's who inspired your 'tar.:p

Didn't we say that last year, or was it the year before....no it was the year before that. That's it......

Bottom line, losing year in and year out gets old no matter what kind of fan you think you are or anyone else thinks you are.

I had an interesting conversation with a FSU volleyball coach the other night. She said Bobby was now more of a figure head with many of the decisions being made without his knowledge. Love him or hate him, I don't ever see Fulmer reaching that point in his career.
