I'm pissed as hell but actually optimistic...

For the love of God, the word you're trying to use is perspective. Read an English book, will you?

And, all this over emotional reaction is crap. People saying we're doomed to the point of losing to kensucky and going 6-6 or some crap. Christ almighty.

This loss sucks. I completely blame the OC and Butch. They got outcoached. BUT, we'll still get 8-9 wins. And, don't assume just because arkansas lost to Toledo that they'll be an easy win. They'll come back fighting just like we will from this loss.

I just can't get over how bad the play calling was the 2nd half. DeBord should have his ass handed to him on a platter.

I honestly don't see how anyone can argue with this.

We got two weeks to fix some things and heal:

Like the Oline after the 2nd quarter.
Dobbs decision making
Dobbs/Kamara running game
WRs not dominating
What happened to Wolf?
TK needs two weeks to clear his Concussion...I'm guessing
Dline needs Maggitt and hopefully gets Danny O'Brian back too
Medley needs to get his mojo back. Butch should pressure him during practices
We need more outside plays. OU was coming straight up the middle.
Play-calling in general could have been much better
Penalties didn't have many but boy were they painful, especially three in a row to give ok three consecutive 1st downs.

We let one get by but now we know just how good we can be.

This is much worse than a tough loss. Something fundamentally failed on the offensive side of the ball. I cannot really explain the 'why', so the fear is that we are likely repeat this problem. We can complain about the kicker, J Dobbs accuracy or lack of deep passes, the receivers separation, missed calls, etc. None of it matters when the offense goes dormant for 3 quarters of a game.

Our offensive scheme is not the most innovative.

You're right. We do not have a Mike Leach clone for an OC. However, last week we get national publicity for our offensive-line movement on run plays. This week we ran a very consistent option that either did not get executed well from the QB or was defended very well by OU.

To say our offense is so simple just shows how many laymen watch the game and decide to complain off of stats because they do not understand what is actually going on.

Capitalize proper nouns, imbecile. Oh, wait, you're allowed to make mistakes because you're Webster. You make me sick. Ever used a cell phone with swype? Probably not. My mistake was not proofing what I wrote. Your mistake is being a pedant because someone didn't love you enough. Get over yourself.

Everything else, I agree with.

Wow. All that cuz I called you out on grammar? ...

Hang on there sport. Just messin with ya. We're all VOL fans here. I hope I don't really make you sick. If so, I'll catch up with ya in K-town and buy a brew to bury the hatchet. BTW, my compliments on the use of the word pedant. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you knew of that word and didn't use a thesaurus.

Trying to put all emotion aside, not sure what you would feel optimistic about. We scored with less than 3 minutes gone in the second quarter to go up 17-0. Never scored again in regulation. OU shut us out, at home, for almost the last three quarters.

This... is... so... important... to...remember.

WHY Butch WHY?

So... when Okie gets drilled by a couple of so-so teams this one will be more telling.

I caught your tone, which is why I threw in the last statement to lighten the mood. I still got a warning from Volnation, though. Bummer.

................................Just no. There's no way in blue hell we're beating Florida. Maybe Arkansas but big deal. UGA, no. Bama, no. UK, no. SC yeah, but so what? Mizzou, probably not, and Vandy yes. So yayyyyyy 6-6. Freaking awesome.

You act like we just got blown out. We took a team we lost to by 24 last year to double OT and should have actually probably beaten them by 24

That was a bad OU team that beat us.

The jury is out on that. They slumped at the end of last year, but arguably have a better QB this year. They play a pretty soft schedule. They likely will win 9 or 10 games, and maybe more.

No one will really know how good they are until December. That's why they play the games. :)

Sugar coat it man, hope it makes you feel better, I really really do. :good!:

You actually stated you think we lose to Kentucky. That doesn't do much for your credibility. It also doesn't say much for your fandom.

Let me put it this way...there is all kinds of criticism of Butch for not "having balls" and "going for it", but some of you fans seem to be the ones peeing down their collective legs.

Oh no! We lost to a ranked team that blew us out by 24 last year! I just KNOW we will suck the rest of the year. I want my mommy!!!!! :lolabove:

I was until tonight. I'm beginning to lose faith in the playbook Butch brought with him. I know to Butch it seems extensive, but every play looks almost exactly the same. We don't run a lot of different sets. I thought last year it was because of youth, but I'm beginning to think this is it. It's going to be hard to win consistently when you expect your team to line up week after week and physically dominate your opponent. This is the SEC, and that ain't going to happen.

Its the worst offense I've ever seen. You know what All Shotgun All The Time will get you? Beat, thats what.

I'm not sure Butch and Debord are paying attention to what other teams are doing, but even NFL teams
know you cant run every friggin play from the shotgun, New England for example takes a direct
snap on 1/3 of their plays, and the data shows that these QBs are more efficient when taking a direct
snap. This is from 2013, but look at the QB rating shotgun/center snap. Quite a difference.

Brady 77%/107%
Manning 111.6/129.7%
Wilson 93.7%/114.1%
Rogers 100.5%/120.6%

There's more but in summary 6 QBs posted a rating of over 100, the highest being 116. Under center
11 players had ratings over 100, Manning being the highest. Hell even Case Keenum had a 99.0 from
under center.

And yes, our offense is very vanilla and very predictable. We're limited to 3 running plays, we
dont use slants or crossing routes, and without a real play action, there's not really much to show
in the way of disguise. Slow developing running plays and predictable routes make our offense easy to defend.

When Butch was hired he promised that he was going to run a "pro style" offense, and we all know
thats bunk. And I said this last year, that if we didnt see Worley under center for 20%+ of the snaps,
that we were in for more of the same, and guess what.

The least Butch and his offensive gurus could employ are some plays out of the pistol for cryin out loud.
I mean this is just so basic its beyond belief that they keep doing the same old thing expecting different
results, then blaming good ole EXECUTION for our failures.

Rant over. Sorry Joe, none of that was directed at you.

Coaches win and lose games but so do the players. As much faith as I lost in Butch the other night and as great as our boys played, there were a lot of players/plays that wasn't executed. Stoops made adjustments amd good calls but the players for OU made plays when it mattered.

I think if the coaching staff will make plays. To the strengths of our QB. That we want lose another game this year. Hes not a pocket passer. His strength is on the run. Passing or running.
