I'm not worried a bit about Tyndall...

As for attrition during a coaching change, see Tigers, Memphis.

They returned 4 scholarship players after multiple transfers, people going to the NBA, with Taggart waiting until June to declare, and all their stud recruits went to Kentucky or Kansas.

Pastner was only able to sign two players that year, plus a transfer and walk-on freshmen ended up playing multiple games that season for them.

How many examples of a coaching change resulting in losing 7 players can you name?

I do think you need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and let this play out before making a judgment. We won't know anything about this team until probably December. The one example that I know of is Tyndall, himself, having 4 returning players at USM his first year. He won 27 games. So, he has experience with it himself.

I questioned a few moves that Pearl made early on and learned from that mistake. Doesn't mean that Tyndall will be better, but you have to give him a chance. I know you will be one of the firsts to praise him if he wins big games. Emotions don't need to go from one end to the other. During times like this, our program needs fans who are patient, supportive, and eager to be excited when (yes, "when") this thing gets rolling. JMO.

So something going on that has either never happened or is extremely rare doesn't cause you to at least pause and possibly say....why?

And there are obviously multiple reasons why. You want there to be a blanket answer to 'why' and you want that answer to be....because of something Tyndall did. There is no uniform blanket answer that covers every negative thing that has happened since Tyndall was hired. Is it possible some of the recruits leaving or players leaving could be due to something Tyndall did? Sure. Even if that was the case, that does not exclude him from being a successful coach at UT. But I think there is plenty of evidence out there that these players decisions were not all a reaction to something Tyndall did or did not do. AJ Davis making the statement "I came here to play for Coach Martin" is very telling. A statement like that does not sound like a response to something negative Tyndall did towards Davis.

I asked why a lot, but not the same whys I guess. Why are fans acting this way. Why are we still discussing Martin? Why are they asking why to everything. Unless you know the full conversation then you will never know why.

We seem to create a lot of drama with expectations and by not knowing what conversations may have taken place between CDT and players or prospects or between CDT and Administration.

We have zero or little knowledge of what transpired between CCM and the administration. The only thing we have to go on are the results.

The fan base has a lot of self inflicted wounds. This is just the results of old fashion Coaching Change without a firing and a simple statement to player and commits by CDT may have been I want you here but if you don't want to be here then let me know.

The program is going to survive no matter what. IMO we have wasted a lot of time discussing Star Ratings, player rankings at the present. Everybody expectations are high. Don't you think that CDT wants to win, he is scrambling and he wants to be here. CCM did not, and personally he is not the standard I want CDT measured against.

Whatever you think does not matter, whatever I think doesn't either until the season starts and we see the product of the Season.

The bashing will start with this statement, but I believe that CCM was satisfied with meeting the minimum standards at Tennessee. There was a lot of emphasis put on conditioning and having a Tougher Breed. It worked year 1 but slowly digressed over the years.

Personally I like 8-10 active player rotations. I don't understand why you recruit kids to just sit on the bench and don't develop them.

Martin was in a tough spot and we don't know what would have become of next year.

We really don't know now...Let all this play out because a Major Change has occurred in Vol Basketball and it really needed too because when Martin felt like he didn't want to be here he left, had he stayed it would have lingered and resonated to the players.

WHAT YOU WROTE BLOODMAN

If NCAAT 1/3 years and Sweet 16 isn't gods enough for Zo to have peoples support, why is 1/3 NCAAT good enough for Tyndall?

Even left your religious interjection alone...these are the words I had to work with...how was my interpretation off...if your inference is that Vol fans didn't support Zo in the tourney I'M CALLING BOLSCH...no need for a link :aggressive:

My issue is that if you're gonna have standards for 1 coach why not both?

If NCAAT 1/3 years and Sweet 16 isn't gods enough for Zo to have peoples support, why is 1/3 NCAAT good enough for Tyndall?

If not landing guys who are top 100 players with a great offer list is a knock on Zo, why wouldn't it be on Tyndall as well?

Have I gone to some extremes, absolutely, but it's to counteract the complete opposite extremes some of gone to. I just don't get the double standard at play here.

Face it, the bottom line is that Martin made no effort to reach out to fans. Little interaction. Coaches we have had like that are usually short lived....

If you bash the fans then you are gone, Jerry Green.

Look at Buzz, he loved being here but had no charm.

Houston didn't really stir up the fan base either.

O'Neil pissed Dickey off and it is funny because a lot of Vol fans liked him, but man was he boring.

DeVoe engaged because it was part of Coaching and he stuck around for a few years. Even though I cried when seeing some of his teams play.

I think it has more to do with people's general dislike of your sudden rigid demands of our new basketball coach after giving Cuonzo Martin a pass for 2.5 seasons, and then trying to pass that blatantly obvious difference off as an "unbiased" outlook.

This x 1000.

BTO has his head so far up Martin's ass that he can tell what he has been eating. Hell, it's like he's in a cult along with the players who are following him lock step off a cliff. Keep drinking the kool-aid.

Just let me know when it's time to start panicking.

Copy and paste the same question on 3 different message boards, it's apparently fun

That's your response? You're like a 4 year old when someone argues the opposing point of view and you have no response. I guess I would post something that doesn't make sense too when I have no retort.

I'm still a little concerned about the stuff I'm hearing about Tyndall. "Billy Gillispie-like" is a bit disconcerting.

How about just giving him HIS FIRST GAME?

Im giving him the first half in the first exhibition game. Then im getting my petition ready. :dance2:

all joke aside. I don't think Tyndall will do any better than Zo. But Im willing to give him a chance.

Looking at Southern Miss Tyndall played a nine man rotation with the last man getting about 14 minutes per game. The highest got 31 minutes. He had a tenth guy that got about six minutes. If he used this same strategy at Tennessee and we get the players expected rotation would probably be Mostella, Suarez, Hubbs, Richardson, Punter, Moore,
Owens, Cofer, and McKnight. Reese could also be involved in some way. Some other guys also in the mix at this time. A very solid rotation if we get most of these guys.
