I'd like to think that there is more common sense like this on this board, and it is just that the idiots speak the loudest.

We will be better next year. You will see. Dooley has been here going on 2 yrs Mark R has been at Georgia for 9 or 10 yrs. Dooley has to work with 1st and 2nd year guys to play. We lost all out leadership from last year.

WELL, I for one am tired of seeing my vols continue on the downward spiral that we are on. I played for the Orange in the late 90's. And it seems like the Recruits that come in, are highly recruited and thats where they stay. They dont seem to improve like we did back in the day. The past 4 or 5 years has been hard for me to stomach. I try and watch them every sat, when Im not busy with other "Football" duties. But man, this is just BAD. I love my extended family on the hill, but maybe the Recruiting Guru's at Rivals and Scout just dont know what they are talking about. Seems like we get GOOD recruits, but they dont evolve into GOOD players. Dont know, maybe its just Im used to the old System at UT. I havent spoke to Dooley in person, but he seems like hes doing a Good job, but I think our schemes are alittle "OFF". We need to go back to the way it used to be, RUN THE FOOTBALL. I know we cant do that rite now, but we got to teach them boys to get mean, and beat the man in front of you on a consistent basis. Thats all I got for now.

Excellent post! That's the truth. This isn't instant gratification folks. Besides that we play the #1 and #2 teams in the nation next back-to-back; who else does that? Look at Texas, should have been better but got blown out; did we? No. Even Vandy played a good game against Bama, for a half. Excellent performance by Simms in a tough spot--great effort/example.

I'm not an idiot, actually quite the opposite. This was a terrible performance. I'll moan all I want. Keep posting false positives if it makes you feel better.

We are not as good as last year, DD is on the hot seat. Dam CPF could do better than this.

I am upset. I've been a Vol fan for almost 40 years but tonight for some reason when our boys came out, they didn't seem to have a "plan". Our coaches weren't in tune for some reason and Tyler just seemed like he was frustrated all night. I pray he's ok although I think Simms did as well as he could coming in. I guess in hindsight I'm more disappointed in our effort than upset. I think we're a whole lot better unit than we showed tonight. We'll keep our heads up though and rock on....Go Vols....Commish

While I would love to agree with you, I can't. Middle school football players can get a shotgun snap to the QB. Any decent high school punter can kick the football 31 yards. This team makes bad mistakes at extremely bad times. They let things snowball. One mistake leads to 4 and then they dig too deep of a hole. It seems like this was a recurring problem under Fulmer's teams too. I am not going to make any hasty conclusions, but the second half seemed to be two GIANT steps back. It was ugly football and we were beat by a mediocre team with the same amount of talent. The last sentence that I typed is the scariest thing over the long haul.

I guess you are --BLIND--. Do you not know we have mostly freshman & sophmores playing? Do you really expect them to play like seniors with 4 yrs experience? Do you not think losing our best offense player (Hunter) is a big blow to this young team? Let's look to the future since you're on the verge of committing hairy-carey. Should this team really be expected to beat #1 LSU and #2 Bama, since no one else in the country has? Not to mention that Bray's injury might be really bad. Get real!

Thanks for posting, I feel your pain, believe me. I went to school from '93-'97, born and raised in Knoxville and 100% and nothing else. This has been really, really hard.

I agree with what you are saying. It doesn't help that 2 of our true difference makers are gone (Janzen and J Hunter). We have some solid kids I think, but not many guys that win games for you in the SEC. Bray can win games for you, but not without a run game. Our special teams actually contribute just as much to us losing as winning it seems...

False, we have certainly improved since last year. We have gone from struggling against the UAB's and Buffalos of the world to not leaving those games in doubt, and have gone from losing to georgia 41-14 to being competetive.

the players dooley has recruited are only 1st and 2nd year players and some are already GOOD we have to give the guy TIME to COACH and develop these guys.it is not as BAD as it seems tonight.

I'm upset. I'm still a Vols fan. I always will be, no matter what. I still believe in CDD, and I believe it will take more time, but we need to see improvement in fundamentals soon.

Freshman and sophomores should be able to snap the ball and convert extra points.

All the same, I'm not calling out Dooley and I understand the position we are in. It just sucks. I keep waiting to feel like we're getting better, and maybe we are, but everytime I think we're starting to make progress there's another kick in the balls five seconds later.

Things Takes Time. With Zero Run and Zero Pass Rush combined with Zero Secondary it's gonna make for a long season. We'll take the lumps, We'll gain valuable experience and We'll be better for it.

Everyone needs to just chill. :good!:

GBO!
