Im not too worried about UF

It took Majors 5 years to win 8 games.
Anyone have the patience for that?
Doubt it in the age of instant everything.

This isn't 1977, some things have changed since then, that make it much easier to build a winning football team in less than half a decade.

Jones has recruited the right players to be successful, but he has not recruited the right coaches to help him develop a winning scheme. As much as I want to like Jones, because I think he is a great coach-like person, he has shown that he is very poor at mid-game adjustments, assistant coach hiring, and scheme development. In the SEC you can't be terrible at any one of those, much less all three, and still expect to win games.

Looks like a pretty even matchup and a defensive struggle. Don't expect to get all of the bounces, refs calls, field position and general breaks like we did against OU. I don't think we can win a close game against a quality team. Hopefully we will break out in the 4th quarter and leave them in the dust.

We've lost 10 straight to Florida. We haven't won in Gainesville since Casey Clausen was behind center. Anyone that says they're not worried about this game doesn't fully comprehend the history of this rivalry. I'm plenty worried about Florida. Undefeated and at home, even though they haven't beaten a quality team, gives them enough swagger to beat us if we don't game plan well. My thoughts...

I know. I almost feel like Butch's ultimate fate hangs in the balance with this game. If he loses here, and then next week to Arky, it is going to be very reminiscent of one Derek Dooley.

I completely agree with you. I was just talking about this last night.

And one thing that this staff should know by now is not to run the ball up the middle on 3rd and long. Jeez, if Dooley taught us anything... it's to not run the ball up the middle on 3rd and long...

VN is full of insecure posters who can't face reality, so they post with certainty what they want to happen hoping others will agree so that they themselves might actually believe it's possible.

Whew. Deep. But true. Analyze this. I think I will order a Florida shirt and root for them the whole game. That should get us a win fer sher.

I agree with everything but your last statement. Lol at you being stacked next year. That's funny. Your team isn't very good, your recruiting class last year was horrible, and muschamp didn't leave much on offense for you. Your offense is 3yrs away. Nobody is concerned about UF for the forseable future. Except for TN cause it doesn't matter what we have when it comes to UF.

Our starting QB, RB, TE, WR and LT / RT are all freshman.

The LT is Ivey, a 5* guy, #1 lineman from last years recruiting class.

All the rest were 4* guys. We have talent, just no experience.

Majors had won an NC and coached a Heisman winner.

Like it or not, the modern media and especially as it relates to recruiting makes progress an absolute necessity. Anything short of 8 wins this fall will not indicate progress.

And no depth in several places.

According to some here, a team cannot win in that situation. We've heard that about UT for two years and some are playing it again this year.

Also, many are overlooking because of the game last year. The game last year was two teams going in opposite directions.

UK had lost several games in a row, and we were just coming off of the USC win.

This year, UK will be playing for a bowl berth, and it will be at UK. UK will be a tough, tough game for Tennessee.

Is that what everyone on Volnation said last year as well?

I know this is probably just another convenient opportunity for you to throw that bit about Dobbs out there...

However, I'm not sure how any sane person could have watched the OU game and not understood why Worley was the starter AND a better choice to start than Dobbs.

I like Dobbs. But his inability to stay in the pocket and complete passes down field is a fatal weakness in UT's O right now against ANY quality D.
UF certainly has a quality D.

But also, Jones is all but sure to attempt to "manage" this game. I'll be jumping for joy if I'm wrong and he doesn't go conservative.

But I've just given you two very good reasons to suspect this game will be competitive... and that's assuming that UF's O doesn't have more success vs UT's D than we now believe.

Can you please show me tape of receivers running free against Oklahoma and Dobbs missing them?

You guys are so biased against our QB. I rewatched that game 3 times. The problem against Oklahoma was receivers not beating press coverage and the o-line not protecting against the blitz. The main culprit was Debord not designing short crossing routes to beat This type of cover one press man coverage.

Learn some football and watch some tape before spewing nonsense.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, you realize that we had a 14 point lead on OK and managed to throw that away in the last quarter. The game will be over when the game is over. It's college football, no lead is safe.

Oklahoma's offense is light years ahead of Florida. The fact we held Oklahoma to 17 points in regulation and to 3 points until the 4th quarter makes me very confident that Florida doesn't score more than 10 this Saturday.

The OK game was thought to be over in the 3rd quarter also. :cray: Sorry, I believed this kind of stuff too many times with Florida. Florida has a Psychological edge on us like we use to on Kentucky and Vandy. I will believe our win over Florida when the game is over and we have more points on the scoreboard. Just being real........:hi:

Psychological edge against who? The fans? Most of our best players are 19-20 years old. I doubt they know anything about this streak other than being reminded by the media this week.

60% of this team has one year or less of experience at Tennessee. I doubt they care. Florida is just another SEC team that they play. Nothing more nothing less.

Dobbs will have to throw the ball DOWN FIELD to win. UF defense will eat us alive running up the middle and throwing those damn screens.

I don't think so, I think he's going to have to be a huge dual threat to win. If he breaks off a few big runs then the Gator D will have to play for that option. If not we're in trouble

We said the same thing last year and look what happen.

What sane reason was there to believe we could beat them last year. We had so many 1st year starters. We had a terrible QB. Only one competent RB. An o-line that couldn't block UT-Chattanooga. And only lost by 1.

We're better across the board this year. While they're at best the same if not worse.

You psychologically damaged vols fans can continue to cry in misery. I'm gonna be confident and optimistic. And for the first time in a long time there are logical reasons to be confident versus in the past when there was only hope.

Until UT wins one I cannot pick them to win or even allow myself to think there is the slightest chance of a happy outcome. I let myself think they might do it in 2012 and had no doubt they would last season. Those two games are the only ones that actually hurt since I was a kid.

So you're scares about being hurt? Boo hoo little baby.

I can't believe you guys aren't embrassed by this behavior. This fan base is like Theon Greyjoy. You guys have been flayed. No more manhood left in this place.

Have some balls and stand by your team instead of being afraid of what happens if they lose.

Game of Thrones fans know what I'm talking about.

I thought last week was bad enough. This week is even worse. Defeatist attitude. Giving up on your team before the game is even played. Attacking your own players and coaches rather than the opposition. Y'all have been flayed as a fan base. I bet Florida fans reading this site right now are laughing by how pathetic you people are over this stupid streak. This game is no more important than every other SEC game. Period. It makes us look weak as a fanbase to give this matchup any more significance.

Tennessee fans = a joke.

Grows some balls please and actually believe in your team. If not why even be a fan?

Theon literally got tortured, had his parts cut off, and whipped into mental submission by a crazy mofo.

How is the fanbase anything like that?

We all bow to your ultimate fandom. Thanks for setting everyone straight. You're the ultimate fan and will probably single handedly cheer this team to victory Saturday. Dobbs will mention you personally in his Heisman speech at the end of the year.
Being a fan doesn't mean suspending all reality. I have a feeling we win Saturday, but I'm not 100% confident. You said we would "kill" Oklahoma. We didn't. So when people call you out for saying the same thing about UF, you shouldn't be surprised.
