Im not too worried about UF

When the clock hits 0:00 at the end of the 4th quarter and the Vols have more points than the Gators then it will be real. All ****ing in the wishing well until then.

That said, it could be watershed moment for the Jones admin with a strong win and god knows they'll need the momentum for the next three.

y'all are worrying about nothing. Did you see the washington/st. Louis game today? Matt jones was running wild. Florida had more players drafted than just about every team in the sec. And yet they still only beat us 10-9 with our best qb watching the game.

If we closed a 24 point margin with oklahoma in one year to a double ot game, then i'm sure we can close a 1 point margin against florida.

The game will be over after 3 quarters. 27-10 tennessee.

Georgia is the next real game we play.

lol

My questions are:
1. How difficult will it be for our Center in a first outing of a hostile environment?
2. Will high-right-snaps be over-the-head-snaps in the murky swamp?
3. Will we be able to score on the goal line up the middle on 2nd down and 2 to go, or 3rd down and 1 to go on the goal line, or forced to settle for a field goal?
4. Will we have pre-snap penalties and false starts in the ultra noisy stinky swamp?
5. Will we have snap infraction penalties from all the stress that may stall our drives?

These things will dictate whether we leave the overly hot, fish smelly swamp with a W or L.

Ummm... being up 17 points for three quarters is exactly my concern. you do realize that plan did not work so well against OU. :thud:

I wished the "Dobbs for Heisman" talk would just stop.

It never started. It actually lives in the same place that all these "I'm not too worried about Florida, Vols will win-book it, Florida has no chance, saving plays for the real games, and soon....." live.

Rainbowland....

First team to 21 wins. I fully except a defensive battle. If one team was to be able to blow the other team out, I truly believe it would be our Vols.

i just wish we'd let some real play calling happen. i'm already (3 games in) sick of - and yes, it's a cliche at this point - playing not to lose as opposed to playing to win.

patton, the in the eponymous movie said it best in the opening monologue:

"We're not holding anything. Let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly and we're not interested in holding onto anything -- except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose, and we're gonna kick him in the ass. We're gonna kick the hell out of him all the time, and we're gonna go through him like crap through a goose!"

now you know how i feel.

You got my vote. I was glad that Butch gave Dormandy some game time; we're going to need him before this season is over, maybe both for the FL & UGA games.

These posts are like clockwork.

We have to score by running the ball. When is the last time we have ran the ball well against florida.

Also, UK has improved and still couldn't beat Florida at home.

What makes people think that our offense is going to go into the swamp and impose their will.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Ditto. You have to use the pass to open up the lanes for the run otherwise they're going to load the box. So, who are you using to pass???? And get some more pass plays/options.

With FLA scoring 14 points vs. Kentucky, you really have to be impressed with their offense.

Hmmm, did FL win or not? That's the bottom line. And KY is a much improved even if they didn't get the win; reminds me of the OK game, we're improved but still lost; chalk that one up to our coaching. And we're expecting improvement this week?

Its funny i haven't seen one person mention special teams for this game. i think they will be the difference as much as i hate it. but apparently UFs is sub par and we know ours is pretty good.

I know this is probably just another convenient opportunity for you to throw that bit about Dobbs out there...

However, I'm not sure how any sane person could have watched the OU game and not understood why Worley was the starter AND a better choice to start than Dobbs.

I like Dobbs. But his inability to stay in the pocket and complete passes down field is a fatal weakness in UT's O right now against ANY quality D. UF certainly has a quality D.

But also, Jones is all but sure to attempt to "manage" this game. I'll be jumping for joy if I'm wrong and he doesn't go conservative.

But I've just given you two very good reasons to suspect this game will be competitive... and that's assuming that UF's O doesn't have more success vs UT's D than we now believe.

They didn't need an offense against us last year.

If everyone recalls FL made a QB change (ADJUSTMENT) and a WR or something they put in beat us and provided their comeback. Duh? Fact is they saw they were going to lose with what they had and made a change, which worked. Expecting different results are we? Just saying that sometimes when things aren't going right then you have to make changes/adjustments and you can't be Fulmerized.

On #3: We can't win at FLA on 3 pointers; coaches have to grow a pair and have more than 1 play for the goal line.

Excellent point. Our special teams have been playing lights out.

Unless Fla run D is worse than Tn OL then Tn has a chance. If Tn gets 4th @ the half inch line its FG time in Tn. BJ is clueless in big games. Fla has a heck of chance of getting the win.
