he's not going to be coaching forever, the burnout factor in the SEC is too severe. I think we should drop the money required to hire an OC that can be groomed as our next head coach when Fulmer decides to retire. It would be a big incentive knowing it's a job which will eventually lead to the head coaching job, with Fulmer' s blessing of course. I think the current situation can turn out to be a very positive for our program, we needed a shakeup badly. I'm hoping we get a new strength and conditioning coach too.​

He'll have to be forced out like JM IMO. I just hope we do hire a good o/c and scoot Phil on out to the pasture the next "go-round".

Damn right he's going to have to be forced out. He will try and pull a Joe Paterno on us. :no:

The only thing I'm worried about is Fulmer might want to hire an OC that he can easily micromanage, which would be the worst case scenario. I hope the powers to be are aware of this and do not allow it.

You don't hire a co-ordiantor based on whether he is going to be the next head coach or not; you hire a guy that you think is going to help you win, and when Phil leaves, if that guy has done that, then he becomes a candidate.

There is no better path to job security than being successful, so you hire the guy that is going to help you be successful. Phil is smart enough to know that.

Spurrier passed to back out the defense so he could run it. He also used play action and would adapt his gameplan for the team he was about to play. Mike Leach doesn't do any that. He'd be a terrible failure as an SEC head coach. The last time Texas Tech played an SEC team they put up 6 points.
