Seeing everyone come on here and freak out and "Whoa is me", "The sky is falling", "FML", "Dooley sucks" is kind of amusing but also super annoying. So, I'm going to try to stay as level-headed as possible.

Reactions from this game.

1. Sal's defense really sucked tonight. I'm not going to expect perfection from it, because it's new and our guys are still trying to learn it. However, Florida just had big play after big play in the second half, which really took all the air out of the balloon. It will get better (If Dooley gets another year).

2. I hate to flip a burnt fritter here, but this game tonight shows me why this team is going to miss Da'rick. I hate to say that, I really do, but having another All SEC weapon out there would have really boosted our offense. Hunter still isn't exactly the same Hunter we saw last year, as some of his drops were just absolute heart breakers.

3. Tyler Bray didn't play THAT bad. He came out really anxious and almost had 5 picks in the first quarter, but after that he really settled down and had what I thought was a pretty good game. Had CP caught that pass he should have had, and Hunter caught a couple of his drops, then we might be singing a completely different tune. However, he still had an opportunity to check down a couple of times to keep drives alive, so that's one area he really needs to get better at.

4. Brian Randolph going down might hurt. I won't say anything else, because I don't know the extent of his injury.

5. I don't want to salt the wounds, but guys, this was a great chance at a win. Muschamp is a goofball and a moron. To be beaten again by this loser hurts so bad. Fact is, we still just aren't there yet. I know a lot of people are complaining because they claim we have all this talent, but Florida is a much more talented team on paper, and in the end, they really wore our guys down. ESPN was right, defense and running the football wins these types of games. Our inability to sustain drives kept our D on the field and theirs off. We were just out of it.

6. This isn't the end of the season just yet. Akron comes to town next week. That gives us a couple more weeks to work out some of these holes on defense and grow on that side of the ball. Say what you want, blame it on Dooley, blame it on Bray, blame it on the refs, whatever. Our defense is NOT stout, and ultimately an inability to get a stop in the second half was what lost this game for us.

With that said, I love the Vols, and I know you do too. Have a beer, go to bed, and sleep this one off. This team could still win 8 or 9 games this year.

The sky fell about 3 years ago. These kids have proven that they have no GRIT...

They have no fight, they have no drive, they have no ability to fight for the win as a team.

Talented? Yes they are a talented bunch.

However, their drive, their lack of a KILLER instinct is entirely upon the coaching.

OPEN THE WALLET AND HIRE A COACH.

Thanks!

Half of Florida's defense was injured. Freshman QB for Florida in Neyland filled with 103,000. It didn't matter how much the deck was stacked against Florida. Dooley and his team found a way to lose. I waited, I saw, he's not the guy. I hate that because I really loved what he did for team chemistry, recruiting, running a clean program, the VFL program and so forth. The most important duty, however, is coaching well. He just doesn't do that.

Team gave up. Plain and simple. I'm a die hard fan (hell my pro team is the redskins) and I had to turn it off today. This was supposed to be a statement that UT football is back and the team gave up in the second half. Disappointed is an understatement.

i don't post ever but i read all the comments everyday. i was hoping that we will come out and play the whole game and we didn't the team gave up. bray looked dead and had very little life. You can see this in his body language.
do i blame the coaches yes! they need to motivate the team at half time to come out ready to fight and they didn't.
Of course we all understand we don't have a running game theirs not much we can do about it right now but get players who are fast and lineman who want to be bullies.
it hurts that we lost but at least we are not kentucky right now.

My takeaway is that we will endure another year without being competitive in our conference. That just sucks.

So tonight we just got out coached? That was where it went bad for you?

How much was the deck stacked against UF? Gilly didn't look like he was as hurt as we wanted to believe. And their injured safety and LB had another talented guy ready to go in after them. It wasn't like this was a bumbling coaching mishap, we got beat by a better team. As I have said often, the harder reality is that teams like Bama, LSU and UF out recruit us. Changing coaches prematurely will actually HURT that, not help it. Of course, everyone thinks the next coach will be a home run hire...maybe so. But those are much more rare than they are real.

I think with the facilities we have, the expectation is that we will field the better team, at least more often than not. We have just been exposed as irrelevant for another year. I don't know what the solution needs to be.

Really good post. Knee jerking makes you lose your balance. This one sucks. But it's a long year. It will be really interesting to see how they bounce back from this.

I am looking forward to those quality wins over Akron, Troy and possibly UK, since we have them at Neyland where we can hopefully contain their freshman QB. We might even be able to squeak by Vandy, which will elevate us above last year's record and prove that we are on target in our relentless pursuit of continuous suckage.

Honestly, I'm glad to be a part of a fanbase that it so passionate about its team.

But this is where I differ with you. I'm going to let the season play out. If we can get the ball rolling on defense, I think we can compete with the rest of our schedule (minus Bama of course). Who knows, maybe we'll back our way into the SEC Championship game. The biggest thing right now is putting some W's on the board so recruits will look our way. This one hurt, but there are 9 more games to go.
