I'm happy with 2nd in SEC East

Happy with second in the East... no. I can't be happy with that. I will be satisfied with it this year since it is the best we can hope for at this point. But never happy about it.

Okay, the title may need a little wordsmithing. "Satisfied" might be better than "happy," and there's an implied "for this year" on the end of it that clarifies his perspective even more.

But I get where GBO is coming from. We started out this year knowing that anything between 8-4 and 10-2 was possible. Including the possibility of a run at the East. The results so far have borne out those expectations: we will (likely) go 8-4, and with a few breaks might have been able to find our way to 10-2 and Atlanta. On the other hand, we (collectively) were pointing at several games as potential pitfalls: Arkansas (before we knew they were about to melt down for everyone but us), Florida (of course), Oklahoma, Georgia, and Alabama. A few were even tossing Kentucky, USCe, and Mizzou into the mix of games to take seriously.

So given all those unknowns, back in August, to end up as the #2 team in the East, well, it's not answered prayers, but it ain't ashes and switches, either.

To be satisfied that it turned out okay (not great, but not bad) isn't a horrible thing. We can live with that, with better things to come in 2016.

And that's all I think GBO meant.

Go Vols!

I will disagree here. He worded it correctly and even noted it was just for this year. After starting off the way we did and the losses we had, to have a realistic shot at finishing second in the East, we should be happy for that finish.

I don't understand why it is so wrong to be happy about that? To me, I can be happy about the results but not satisfied with being 2nd whereas if I am satisfied with 2nd then where is the drive to be better? JMO

"I'm happy with second place" said no winner ever. That doesn't mean this won't end up being a successful season if we win out, but champions would never utter those words!

Finsh strong this year and then give them hell next year. If we don't get to Atlanta next year then I'm gonna be pissed. 2 plays away from it this year.

1 play. They just had to not give up a 63 yard TD with a little over a minute left.

That's on the players. And fans to an extent (Arkansas). Saban himself would probably have 5 losses this year.

You are beyond delusional if you blame the fans for any loss. Ever. Ever.

Are you that confused about what wins football games?
