Debord is horrible. If Butch wants to keep him, demote him to where he belongs as the O-line coach and bring in someone with fresh ideas that can give this predictable offense a makeover.

The number of points doesn't necessarily mean that an offense performed well. 4 turnovers on their side of the field by the defense and special teams made that happen. VT outgained Tennessee in total yards. If you think throwing screens and running the ball into 8 and 9 men fronts presents the offensive play calling in a positive light, then I question you even know what you are watching.

And since when did posting an opinion on a message board become whining? You don't like the opinion, don't open the thread. Pretty simple concept. If anything your response sounds pretty whiny to me. Man up and realize that not all fans are blind lemmings who think criticism isn't allowed after a victory or that Butch shouldn't be fired after a defeat. Or you can just go back to your safe space where everyone shares a brain.

I can't believe how people blame the coaches. They took a team that has an offensive line that cannot block and found a way to win the game. They did a terrific job.

We won. I don't care how many yards we had. We had more points. All that freaking matters.

I don't understand all of the negativity on here tonight! I'm definitely a realist and call it like I see it, but we saw so many examples of improvement tonight, especially in the passing game. The throws to Jennings and Malone were great, and it proves Dobbs can get it done when given time in the pocket. Jack Jones gave us a huge lift!! I would have liked to see us keep our foot on the gas a little more when we were up 31-17 on Offense, but our defense created plenty of turnovers and we made the adjustments we needed to as the game went on on D especially. Enjoy the W!! We're getting better.

Thanks strawman. Wasn't the point of this thread. Maybe I should start another redundant thread talking in circles about the win. 'We won'....'We're back'....'Hooray Vols'. While I share in everyone's excitement, that doesn't mean this is not a legit issue that may pop up later down the road.

Enjoy the W! Last year we were losing 3TD leads and the first 2 games this year have been come from behind wins. Even if it was not always pretty that's still very positive change. Still, as usual the season success or failure will ultimately depend on UF and UGA games - if we win those we are finally all the way back.

This is the equivalent of somebody finding $1000 and being mad bc it's all in ones. A good thing happened today but it didn't happen exactly how we would've all wanted it. Who cares? I think everyone needs to take 24 hrs and enjoy the win without giving in too much to the negativity.

Isn't it the coach's job to teach the line to block? And isn't it their job also to keep a line that returns all but one starter from regressing from last year's performance? I think these are reasons why people are frustrated with the staff.

WE got a bad OL AND A qb that cant throw other than that we are in good shape.:thud:

Dobbs was 10-19, 91 yards 1 INT and 3 TDs.

106 yards on 14 carries and 2 TDS

5 total TDS from Dobbs tonight.

Dobbs had a good game. The o line did not.

What if we are just trying to win now without revealing too much of our true offensive capability before we hit the 4 game stretch that most think will define our season. Those guys won't know what hit them. Hey, you never know. We're winning and supposedly we added some new wrinkles to our offense this past offseason and no, I don't think fake-blocking was one of the new wrinkles. Maybe we see a bit more of the playbook against FL, even more against GA, a bit more against A&M, and we bring the kitchen sink against Bama. After we get through that gauntlet it may not be all that important to try to sneak up on our opposition. just speculating.

It's not Debord. We said the same thing about Bajakian. It's Butch's system plain and simple.....

I don't know why so many people cannot understand this! This is Butch's system being ran like Butch wants it ran, Debord is handcuffed by the system, not the other way around.

We are currently on a 8 game winning streak. Our longest since 1998.

Enjoy the win

Dunc you know they can't do that. We could go 11-1 and they will focus on the 1. It's who they are. I really think they watch for negatives in a game and miss the game all together. The old "forrest for the trees" if you will. Sad for them.

I seriously doubt it. If this is true the entire staff should be immediately fired for stupidity.

This offense is what it is, play-calling warts and all....unfortunately. The best we can hope for is they figure out some sort of passing game and the OL figures out how to block before the gauntlet hits.
