I'm going to post something positive

I was curious of some stats because our young guys on D, are standing out. Our D stats are 11 yards better in regulation against BYU than UTAH. Doesn't UTAH have a top D?
Utah’s total defensive ranking is 43. So 11 yards should translate to 2 places lower in the rankings. Tennessee should be ranked accordingly at 41. But, they’re not.

Utah didn't allow them to throw a bomb with seconds on the clock and get within a chip shot of a field goal to eventually beat us.

Comparing Utah's D to our's is well... dumb. Utah beat BYU, easily.

Positive - We will have a different QB in a couple of years. I guess any QB that has taking a beating like JG would be having the same trouble.

If Tayler didn't have that bone head play at the end, and the bone head play giving them the touch down, That's what? about 70 yards better? ( if ands and buts I know ) All the while bad communication. To still have similar #'s to UTAH, I think the D is going to break out at some point. I think Tennessee is in a unique situation as in. This weekend can be a reset and tuneup going into the season. " JG " I know but, this is an opportunity to start the season again, or one way to look at it..

Makes you wonder if Bryce Thompson and Bituli could have been the difference makers in the first two games. To’oto has played extremely well tho, pretty cool to see him have an immediate impact at a tough, important position

Keep saying the good things....a few plays killed us...but man, Henry T, Crouch, Bumpass, Wayna, Darnell are coming on......
We'll see more new players play more in the coming weeks...We know all the bad but just watching Henry T shoot those gaps and make those plays and see Crouch getting into the picture is really fun to watch! Enough of the negative stuff this week.

I don't think they would have been as lost as they have been, and the inexperience would be less of a sting for sure.

Hang in there LeBleu...your on the right track....Pruitt may surprise us all by seasons end...
I'm critical of the Vols uninspired play in week one and the mistakes that were made this past saturday but if they keep improving most all may be behind Pruitt and this coaching staff by years end....
I saw those freshman playing Saturday and I can't wait to see more.........

I think you guys need to go back to grade school and learn to read. OP was asking about the defense. That is the side of the line of scrimmage that doesn't have the ball.

Nope, read that and understood perfectly. The defense kept us in a position to win, the offense was inept in the passing game.

I does not matter. Leave the positive thread and start your own “the offense is awful and I gather with a passion” thread. At least criticize the defense if you are going to contaminate this thread.
