I ain't gonna lie...losing out on Green and Lawson was a kick to the nuts. Not getting a single DT in this class is a punch to the gut, too. But, on the plus side of things, we already have a sick WR haul and if Boyd chooses Rocky Top tomorrow, this offense is going to be un-freakin-real! Even without Green or Ford being a part of it.

Let's look at what we got (on the roster). I think Neal is highly under-rated. If he was just a 4.6/40 guy, I'd be somewhat concerned, but he is one of the fastest players on the team, and he's no scat back. He has a great blend of size and speed. I think he'll have a break out year. Lane is also an SEC caliber RB. He's the best "between the tackles" runner we have, and another year of development under CJG, and both will shine.

Look at Hardesty as an example. He didn't really show a lot, until that final year. 2nd Rd draft pick. Not shabby at all, considering there are many years where there is no pressing need for RB's.

On the D-side of things, going back to a 4-3 will help tremendously, and McCullers should have a more prominent role as a true DT...not a NT. Corey Miller will probably break out this year, as a true DE (remember, he got shifted to DT under Wilcox, cause we had no real DT's on the roster, and then was taken out of his element in the 3-4. J. Smith should have a good year, as a true 4-3 DE, too...same with Jordan Williams.

Coming back to recruiting...hopefully, with a drastic turn around in the fall, this staff can make up for all the misses in this class and use that to show the big fish in the 2014 class, that these big holes left unfilled = early playing time.

I just hope that the EE's in the defensive backfield can come in and help out immediately. We gave up way too many big plays over the top last year.

Depressed? Really?
I've been following recruiting for over 2 decades now, and this is a critical class and time. Don't think we can afford to have another like Fulmer had in 2008. That's why, yes, it is depressing to see a big fish get away, with such a big need.

I just think we are in a position to flip the script this year, and should be able to make up for these misses next year...for example, J. Hurd. With no big fish at RB in this class, the prospect has to look much better for him.

You make some great points...but as we saw this year, great receivers and a gun slinger doesn't mean squat in a league won by defense and a solid running game. Look at Bama, Florida, LSU and USC, all have had great D's and during their best times run the ball and wear a D down...I count Tebow as a RB because if it was 3 or 4th and short, he got the 1st down...I'll trade 2 great WR's for Green, Kamara etc and would give up V Bell for Lawson in a heartbeat....RB's and DL's are what makes this league great

Dude, went strong stating facts. Coulda used a couple more DLs this year but I think switching back to 4-3 makes us significantly better and buys us time.... gotta be a priority next year. And why the hell can we not get a Gurley or Yelden type at rb? No depth chart and best o line in SEC! Need 2 studs in the backfield-- CBJ and CJG have to get this done!!! JA-LEN HURRRDDDD!!! in '14

Well hopefully we'll be able to pull Hurd next year. I want a guy like Trent Richardson...that guy was a beast at Bama, unfortunately I think D. Green coulda been that guy. Maybe not as good but pretty close

if we had a D in 2012 equal to 2011.....we would probably had 9 wins in 2012....you need offense.....but you gotta AT LEAST A tiny bit of defense... we had none last year...

To help with your depression, I offer this:

Kiffin's class is falling apart in front of his eyes.

Hatcher an Ramsey both de-committed today

Its common knowledge we are going to be pretty damn bad this year. I just hope we can improve every year.

I agree but we didn't have a D. I was just saying a great D is better than a geart O...Just ask Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, Texas Tech...they put up crazy numbers but play very little D.

We'll get there, it may take a couple of years but we will
