I'll get bashed for this but it's the truth..

Would Tennessee be 5-2 if we were in the West?

If you answer no, then we arent where we need to be

If you answer yes, then you dont know how much better the West is over the East

I'm a true fan because I want Tennessee to succeed and not get embarrassed by a coach who has been here 4 years.

Non-true fans like joshy are okay getting curb stomped by 39 points.

How do you know they did hold him back? How do you know Dobbs didn't just make some bad reads and etc.? Today was the first time I've seen him look like he was playing scared.

I felt the same way. There were several times that he appeared to have guys open, but fixated on his outlet receiver, which was usually Jalen Hurd in the backfield. And his accuracy was a little worse than normal, which didn't help.

I very seldom if ever reply to any post on this board but the hard truth is we are getting beat on the offensive line. Coaching, talent, scheme whatever you want to pick this is a fact.

Dobbs is a great athelete but is not an elite QB, and will never play a down at the next level. He does not read defenses and it was obvious today by him looking at who he was going to throw to as soon as the ball was snapped.

Even with that said the Oline is just not coached well enough or reruited well enough to get this program back to where we all want to be. Look at the Olines from the past even when we were not that great we always have had good O lineman and now it seems we are playing catch up with the top teams in the country as far as our line play goes.

Don't tell me it takes time, look at Louisville, Washington and the like and they are basically where we are..... Talent and scheme to match the talent that is called coaching not the other way around.

The play calling of the OC leaves a lot to be desired. A younger OC with more versatility in his play calling would be more effective. When the running back goes in motion, everyone knew Dobbs was going to throw to him and Bama was ready every time.

You sir (op) stand alone. That was embarrising. No excuses. I tried to get on the wagon but it keeps tipping over. Its time to pay a coach who can get it done. This staff will never get it done. How much proof do you need?

Look I agree that we should've been a lot more competitive in this game and that it was an embarrassment, but we're all vol fans in our own way. Don't you dare call anyone on this board a "non-true fan" just because they disagree with you, that's just disrespectful and quite frankly immature.

We're all miserable after this lost and I wouldn't go through with any other fan base, even if I disagree with some of the other opinions on here.

Too many key injuries. Killed us.

This X's 1,000! Take 8 starters off of Bama's team and we probably beat them by 2-3 touchdowns. After the first quarter we had 1 starter left on our offensive line. I had to get the program out because we were playing guys ( Marcus Tatum at right tackle) that I have never seen on the field before. We were missing 5 starters on defense. We never stood a chance with all of these injuries. Let's throw this game out the window and hopefully get some players healthy during the off week and run the table to win the SEC East.

I had the exact same thought reading the threads you quoted.

I'd rather have Butch here than either Kiffin or Dooley, obviously. However, I have zero confidence that he will ever get Tennessee to an elite level.

IMO, great coaches either fall in to one of two categories: 1) They are great recruiters who simply over power teams (e.g. Fulmer in the 90's), or
2) They are exceptional x and o guys who can take less talent and "coach it up."

Unfortunately, I'm not convinced Butch falls into either of these categories.

Sure that's why there are over 45 likes on OPs post. Get real and understand we had 8 starters missing today. We would have lost to any SEC team today.

This

Until Saban retires the whole conference is going to be behind. He is out recruiting and out coaching everyone.

We could hire the next Urban Meyer(Tom Herman), unfortunately he's probably gonna go to Texas and Butch will probably still be our coach next year.

If Tennessee were in the SEC West, we would fall behind the talent of Bama, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M. That means, depending upon whom we had played, we could be anywhere from 0-4, to 3-1 based on the predictability of talent and the schedule rotation.

Don't use the transitive property, you'll fall into a hole you can't get out of.

We'll see where Butch plateaus...he has recruited well in some areas but ultimately you have to have the talent at all positions...I do like that he had the guts to fire a long time assistant last year...not that we've seen a big difference but at least Butch was able to make the change - something Fulmer had a hard time doing...

In the off season there was a thread about how long it took to do a total rebuild...Butch said 6 to 7 years and the folks on here went crazy...it never takes that long when playing video games...but in the bigger scheme of rebuilding UT football from one of the weakest 5 years in Vol football history, the 6 to 7 years is probably accurate...

How many years is it really gonna take this staff to build an offensive line that can compete against any team we face? It's been 4 years already, they should be better than this.

The reality too is that Butch has never been a part of a major program prior to Tennessee, so he's kind of learning on the job in a sense

You do realize we had to insert a true freshman that was supposed to redshirt at right tackle today due to Hall getting injured and a redshirt freshman at left tackle due to Kendrick getting injured. This was on top of Weismann and Robertson already out due to injuries. We basically had 1 starter on our O line vs. The #1 team in the country
