In our opinion, things remain fluid at the quarterback position for the 2027 cycle. While the Vols continue to work the position and keep tabs on a number of prospects, Josh Heupel and Joey Halze checked in on four-star quarterback Israel Abrams this week. The Vols have done a nice job here for sometime, and we would look for Abrams to potentially be back on campus in the spring.

I think we are this kids favorite team... remains to be seen if we are going to pony up another Faizon sized bag for a QB prospect

Fong'd to Auburn another disappointing loss
Auburn got Byrum Brown in the portal sweepstakes. Brand new Coach.

But lets apply a bit of logic here.

We have a 6th yr Sr maybe coming back.

A transfer from Colorado.

A RS Soph 5 Star.

And all world everything true freshman.

This recruitment is farrr from over, but, the situation as Auburn is much more paletable.

I actually don’t think we sign an elite QB this class.

Just grab a kid with potential. If they are smart, an elite talent isn’t going to waste their time behind Gmac, FB and potentially a portal QB down the road
I agree,

However you could also make the whole
ā€œIron sharpens Ironā€ pitch. But that’s much harder these days because somebody somewhere will always need a QB.

I think Heupel needs to maybe sell more of being exposed to his teaching and elite QB room to more recruits so that they will at least want to stay 2 years. To have the foundation to succeed somewhere else if not in Knoxville.

It’s probably a tough sell, but also, do we even want to have a lot of money tied up in a guy who doesn’t see the field until his 3rd year at best?

I think we can/should do better than a ā€œprojectā€ type guy though
