Igor Milicic 3 point shooting

Figured I'd dust this thread off with some good news about Igor in regards. Actually, some great news if this were to continue.

Igor was 2-3 from 3 point land,
6-7 from 2 ( that's really good) and 3-4 from the line. 10 big boards and 5 assists. Got the double-double!
They didn't have blocks or steals listed yet, but I'm pretty sure he had at least one block.
The guy was very efficient tonight and was playing with a ton of confidence.
The performance tonight was what we all hope we can get from him.

I'm not saying he is no going to necessarily do this every game, but if he can be a consistent threat from 3 and stretch defenses out, we are going to be a bad match-up for almost anyone!

I will say one last thing, ZZ also had a big games tonight. With both of them getting the extra rest makes me wonder if our guys have been overdoing minute wise and we possibly losing games from fatigue?

Excited for one more year with him, pending the rule change, unless someone like Buzz can lure him away. I think he'd stay, but never know anymore.

Fatigue might be a factor, but outside of trying to survive with a couple more minutes from Dunbar or Boswell I’m not really sure how you get them more rest.

Guy was a no show today.
18 mins -4 points. 1 -3 pointer, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1-2 from the line.
This isn't going to remotely cut it going into NCAAT. If he doesn't wake up and start giving us something we are headed for an earlier exit than most of us want.

Do better, Milkman. We know you are capable of bettter!

He's pretty much no-showed for a month. 7.1 ppg and 36.5% shooting across his last 9 games.

I've been speaking to the TV like a insane man all season ... SLOW DOWN ... He is deadly when he takes his time and inaccurate when he hurries. You are 6'10" my friend, they are not blocking your shot. Had he relaxed and square up nicely and shot with a smooth stroke, he may have a 1 shot all season tipped. Just slow down. Later in the season CRB referred to it as well. The guy has a pure stroke.

Unpopular opinion likely but it looked as if the lights might’ve gotten too bright for him against Auburn which isn’t good… and that might’ve carried over into the Florida game.

I think it’s all mental. Similar to what happened earlier this season.

Yep.. when he gets in his follow through, he'a good shooter. Without any facts behind it, he looks like one that Barnes has overcoached offensively to a detriment. He doesn't look confident when shooting. He got on him pretty hard about a month ago, and he's been a shell since then. He was having a good stretch before that.

Some of that is more the whistle happy ref crew than any individual player.
There was some of that, but Milicic was moving with his hands and not his feet and often holding his guy's jersey. I wouldn't be surprised if he's having stamina issues, having had a few bouts of illness this year.

Yeah, it's Barnes' fault😆

Igor IMO is the most important player to our NCAA success this year, similar to Aidoo last year. We can certainly beat Wofford and UCLA/Utah State if he no shows again, but like Aidoo against Purdue and Creighton, if Igor is in foul trouble all game, defending poorly, and providing no spark on offense, we aren’t making a Final Four.

He has to be better. I’m not sure what has happened to him. He looked so promising in that stretch right after he returned from missing the Florida home game.

He's just not particularly athletic.
He's slow. On defense reminds me a bit of Vescovi on offense. Always seems to be a step behind. I watched him get blown by a couple times in that Flordia game and I just shook my head.
I can live with a little of that no problem if he would just pick it up on offense.

Given how short the lineup is, the ceiling of this team with unplayable Igor probably sweet sixteen/elite eight. With him playing at decent level contributing offensively would open up a lot for Lanier and other shooters can beat Houston/Purdue to make final four

It's said on t.v and many of us mention it, but us being able to play the stretch 4 is what for sure opens up our offense, and no doubt the key for us to make a deep run.

If nothing else, it another shooter to account for. I mean like the name suggests, it stretches the floor for us and opens lanes for driving and kicking. Not to mention for Igor himself it gives him an easier chance to drive. He can give a little pump fake ( which I have seen him do) and a lot of the times have a clear path straight to the basket.

It all starts with teams respecting his 3 point shot, tho. They do for the most part when he is hitting , but when he starts out missing or even passing multiple times in a row on that deep shot, they relax back and really don't worry too much about his deep threat. From there, you also start seeing a lot more double teams and e even allowing guys to over help.

I really hope he finds his stroke, because we for sure are going to need him to. He also needs to play a lot smarter in terms of fouling. He often picks up what I call 'dumb' fouls.
