Peyton Manning, Casey Clausen or Erik Ainge were the QB of this team would we be ranked in the top 5 when the new polls come out on Monday? I know that it don't matter but I was just thinking about it this evening and wondering what you guys thought. I'm sure with anyone of those guys at the helm we would be 3-0 and would have just defeated the #1 team at their house. Just one of those fun questions to think about "what if".

I don't know. None of those guys proved they could win in college. So my answer is no.

you didnt think Casey Clausen was a winner? He didnt win any championships but I thought his W vs L ratio was kind of impressive. I dont have any stats in front of me but wins @ FL, ND, AL and Miami pop in my head.

I'm fully convinced that if Ryan Mallett had transferred to UT instead of Arkansas that we would be a NC contender this year and would have beaten the Gators soundly.

Dammit! Why couldn't Fulmer have just hired Scott Loeffler 2 years ago to get Mallett!?

My good friend always said that Casey knew how to win and now that you mention that I agree. Casey had a knack on how to get a W after a game.:rock2:

Eric Ainge vs Florida: 1-3
Casey Clausen vs Florida: 2-2 (both wins AT florida)

I'd take Casey any day

Even if we had Rick Clausen on this team we'd be 3-0...or at least 2-1 and would have played UF even closer.
Is there a worse starter at a bcs school than Crompton?

Stop with all the JC bashing...he actually played OK today. The 2 INTs were on very nice defensive plays. He didn't have the 'deer in headlights' look and managed the game OK.

I'll take Casey too . . . if you can guarantee me that every time we play Florida we have a RB go for 230 yards or have Ron Zook coaching the other team.

I actually thought he was bad again today. In my opinion it looked like Kiffin called the perfect game for a team with a less than stellar QB. Like it or not, this team will continue to struggle with Crompton at the helm. All his passes were to the flats. He didnt seem to look downfield and if he did it felt to me like he was shy to pull the trigger. How can Stephens be this bad? This team is one dimensional and that's just not gonna hack it. Thank goodness for the running game and the D. I was proud of how well the team played today, but our QB situation is dire. My 2 cents.

Casey actually beat florida 3 times, gaffney was it??? dropped the ball in the endzone, when that Ahole called it a TD...had we had replay then we would have won that game.

JC was a top recruit out of High school and looked like a future all-sec quater back a few years ago when he steped in against LSU. just a classic case of putting all our eggs in one basket (maybe two if you count stevens). we just have to keep recruiting even if we get a guy that looks to be our star for the next 3-4 years! OU shows you how easy it is to lose a guy and how valuable a backup can be.
