But if you are going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If your are going to San Francisco
You are going to meet some gentle people there.....

Sorry about that, my old age in me came out....

I drove through there earlier (well yesterday now) and the water was rising. In fact, about 15 FL Trooper went flying up the N bound lanes just after we crossed the river. My brother was about 2 1/2 hours behind had just called and told me about the possibility it would be closed. Glad I got through.

Traffic was horrible.

Gas wasn't an issue. If you're coming from TN just be sure to fill up before you get to Valdosta. That will leave you plenty to get back up the road.

Travel safe!

Bad idea for UF to host this game.

Bad idea for UF not to host this game. It's becoming a rallying point for Floridians across the state. A three-hour respite and group hug of sorts for 90,000 people.

There will be inconveniences getting to the game, plan accordingly.

fyp. :)

Thank goodness I didn't have to do this today...although traffic was awful around Ocala. But all you need to do is take:

I-10 E to Exit 301 or 303 and take 41/441 into Gainesville. A little out of the way but not too big of a deal.

I hope this was not some stupid gaytard pride thing when they can't handle it. Asking for extra police is good and scary at the same time...

Vols fans going to the game, please be careful.

Just curious do yall have hotel rooms already booked prior to Irma? Did you confirm reservations?

So I am flying into Jacksonville from Cincinnati. We are staying in St. Augustine and driving to the game on Saturday. We had to book a new condo to stay in bc of damage.

Hopefully you get some time to actually visit St Augustine. Great little city, a little beat up from the storm but a really neat place to visit if you can get out and around. Have fun.

if it's such a rally cry for Floridians across the state - why is everyone dumping their tickets? Tickets as low as $45 online. Lowers for less than a $100.

Also, I'm pretty sure the rest of Florida hates you too. lol

Thanks. One of my best friends is a pesky Gator fan and we make this a good trip every other year. We usually go out one night in St. Augustine and by day fish and explore the city

With the fall in ticket prices, it's almost tempting to drive down to Amelia Island, pick up my dad, and go to the game after helping with some yard cleanup.

Sounds like a great place for a football game.

Because the interest is low. Real life has happened. Alot of people do not want to add to the problems florida already faces. The folks in Florida have bigger things to worry about.
I hope those folks that were demanding it be moved to MBS and it would be a sellout are laughing at themselves now.

If you are going to Gainesville for the game, I sincerely hope that you have a great time. Notwithstanding the old wives' tales of people having things thrown at them, if its even true its one out of a million. I think most people who go there for a game have a good time.

The SEC should have moved the game to atlanta or neyland---gainesville is still all messed up from the hurricane.

They also need a shot to their economy which this will bring.

Another reason why that region isn't ready yet to host a football game that will bring 80,000 people into the area. When UT is sending their own police force to help Florida staff the game - the game shouldn't be there, imo.

Lets hope Tenn police arrest some Gator defensive players. I fear we need the assist.

Really gotta question whether Tennessee fans and their band should make this trip. The classy move would be to stay home and open up those hotel rooms for displaced residents. The Pride of the Southland alone will take up virtually an entire wing of a hotel in Ocala. Not to mention their huge buses that will guzzle a lot of gas when there are still shortages in the area, as reported today by the Gainesville Sun.

The UF AD briefed the SEC office that they were good to go to host the game and everything that came with it. Logistics, security, infrastructure, etc. If things are not ready down there by Friday/Saturday then that's on the UF AD, not Tennessee fans.

Understand the concern but that should have been considered when deciding to play the game. If that is a problem then the game should have been postponed or moved to a different location.

Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun reported today that the city still has large swaths without power and gas is hard to find. He advised all Gator fans coming into town for the game to make sure we had a full tank and not to rely on getting any in the area, otherwise we'd be stranded and looking for hotel rooms that are also in short supply.

In light of this, I think a classy move by UT would be to keep the Pride of the Southland in Knoxville. I've seen them arrive down here before and they use like 4 large buses. They also take up a large number of rooms at the Ocala Hilton off I-75.

Tennessee could make a strong statement by limiting their footprint and reducing their travel party to the athletic director, athletic director's wife, Butch Jones' wife, and maybe the parents of the team captains. We could just put them all in one box.

The game should have been moved. THE UF AD should have recognized the things you listed and said the resources would not be available.
