and decided to take an OV to UT, or any other big school (let's name UGA, Bama, U$C, and Ohio St. for the other 4), would you want to be able to sit down with the AD for a little while and pick his brain about the future of the program?

I'm not sure what got me thinking about this this morning, but the idea just popped in my head while driving to work. We always see the quotes from recruits on their OV saying, "Yeah, I got to talk to Coach ________ after the game, and blah blah blah...." But they never get mention talking to--or even meeting--the AD.

So, would you want to sit down with those schools' respective ADs? Or, do they even have that kind of access on an official visit? (If they don't have access, and I don't know if they do or not, pretend they do just for the sake of arguement.) :hi:

I doubt many get to. A lot of times if they're coming in a coach can give them what they need to know about the future. Recruits don't want to come in to unstable situations and I thinned an ad would present that image.

EDIT: I did see hart talking to basketball recruits before the UF game this year so they probably do get to. I doubt that's the nature of the conversation though

Even if the AD gave a recruit some time, it's not like he's going to shoot straight with the kid if the program is unstable. The AD wants the recruit as bad as the coach does.

The AD might come say hello and shake their hands as a group, but there is usually not a discussion. Frankly, most kids that age could care less. The VOLS have a good enough facility for sports, that most of the recruits are thinking about that. Most of the better recruits think they came come in and start immediately. They are full of themselves from the highschool fans pumping sunshine up there butt, including the coach. most of them have to be deprogrammed once they get on campus

Why would a kid even want to talk to the AD? What is the AD supposed to tell him? You're not giving us much to work with here. Either lean one way (which is subliminally what you are trying to do anyways) or the other!

If I was a recruit I could care less about the AD or what he had to say. Not to be disrespectful or anything but my only concern would be how do I fit into this program and can my skill set shine in this program and give me a shot at the NFL. So many players chase that national championship and they choose a program that may not necessarily fit them and they become lost in the program and become another number on a team. I'd pick a program with a scheme that fit me.

Yes, Croom's mom said that she had a long talk personally with AD Dave Hart about Dooley's future at UTK. She was assured that he is here to stay..... (as long as he wins nine games this year)

Some ADs help recruit. Facetime is probably available but I doubt the AD is going to have a sit down with a 17year old kid about the head coach's future.

I doubt many 17 yr olds have the mindset to sit down w/an AD & discuss the direction of the program. They just want to know how fast they can get to "the league"

Do you meet the CEO of a company when they're recruiting you for a job? Unless its like an important position like a VP role(maybe an example of this would be like a head coach) you're never gonna meet the guy who runs the entire show during your hiring process.

Talking to the AD would be worthless. He's not gonna say the coach is fired if he loses 5 games this season. Best thing the recruit can do is just wait and commit after the season when he knows for himself if the coach is gonna be there or not.

If im an 18 year old kid with that much talent, the last thing im concerned about is the AD of a school...
