If you took the best players….

He's in the Hall of Fame because of his Broadway Joe brand. His stats are pretty crappy relative to HOF expectations.
Agree somewhat but you can’t compare stats of different rules eras. It was a completely different game then than today. Coaches would call a deep ball on 3rd & long & figure an “interception was as good as a punt” instead of checking down to a 4 yd completion. Defenses could grab & push WRs anywhere so long as the ball wasn’t in the air. OL had to block WITHOUT using their hands. And QBs were not protected in the least.

Pitt would also have a crazy good all-time team.

Marino at QB, Dorsett and Curtis Martin at RB (Craig Hayward and LeSean McCoy too). Larry Fitzgerald at one WR spot. Ditka at TE. Russ Grimm.

Gastaneau, Ricky Jackson, Hugh Green, Aaron Donald, Chris Doleman, Darrelle Revis on defense.

They have something like 9 NFL hall of famers and Donald is certain to be inducted.

Yeah
Pitt has produced some beasts over the years.

Tennessee is not as strong at WR as most people think. LSU crushes us. Plus they have Burrow. Crazy good secondary.

Cool thread Neo!
This thread got me thinking about some of the greats Syracuse has produced since they are UT’s next opponent.
Jim Brown
Art Monk
Donovan McNabb
Marvin Harrison
Larry Csonka
Dwight Freeney
Etc
Syracuse and Pitt both would have very good teams for programs that are not consistent top 25 teams and haven’t been this century.

We could compete with anyone on an all-time level. We wouldn't be ranked number 1, but I could see us around 8-10 if you're talking for sure.
