Contradictory, yes, I know. I would RATHER have a guy who's been a hbc somewhere, but between those 2 I'd take Venables all day long. Patterson has been at TCU for about 8 years and is still there. You'd think if he were that great someone else would have snatched him up by now.

OK, my opinion is quickly changing after reading up on Patterson a bit and watching this game.

We'll see how he does tonight. With the exception of QB and RB, he has much more talent than BYU. I haven't seen anything that impresses me in the few years I have lived out here and followed the Mountain West.

TCU 32 BYU 7 4th qtr. 11 mins left.

How do you like him now?

Bama had a list of top tier coaches when Shula left...Rich was number one, if I'm not mistaken Saban was top tier coach number 3 on they're list. .

But how many coaches turned them down cold before they threw the bank at Saban?

Well like i said...I think Saban was choice number 3 so only 2 coaches turned them down. I can't remember who the other guy was...I know Spurrier was rumored to be in the mix but that was just rumor. Ut will have to do the same.

So...My choice is Chucky! He bought 150 acres and is building a house in Knoxville for a reason other than his wife is from Knoxville.

Spurrier has been proven only somewhat above average, at best, when unable to out-talent the competition. Moreover, Spurrier is a retread at this point, his passion is gone and he is no longer on the cutting edge offensively. But most importantly, he isn't a big recruiter. That's a death sentence at Tennessee.

My sentiment exactly, our next coach better be able to recruit, that takes energy and passion, the only place SOS has that is game day, and the golf course......

We don't need Kiffin. The best choice would be Steve Spurrier. He could coach for a few years until Peyton Manning retires to take over the healm at Tennessee.

IF their is a coaching change we
only need a lame duck coach for 4 maybe 5 years, think thats all peyton has left in his body to be a top nfl qb.
then he can come take over.Maybe have al wilson and leonard little to take care of the defensive side.Jamel will be ready to retire then to he can come coach our rb's then add jason whitten to handle the te's
