Would that allow Freeze to sue the SEC for collusion?
In all honest, I think Napier would be my first choice. He knows a "winning culture" and he's a relentless recruiter. Also a younger coach with no reported "baggage". Having said that, I don't think he'd accept the job. Realistically, the two that I think would take the job and succeed here are Freeze and Kiffin. Both would be successful and re-energize this program. Both are obviously risky hires from a character standpoint.
Chadwell intrigues me. He's young. He's from the area and knows the program. He's got kids playing hard and well for him. Is he ready for a program this size? Can he swim with the big boys? Can he recruit at an elite level? Most importantly, can he assemble a winning coaching staff? He's a bit of a wild card, but if we're going to take yet another chance on an up and comer type, he checks off enough of the boxes for me to make this type of risky hire. Who knows...we might luck out and finally find that diamond in the rough and he turns out to be a 20 year guy....like those types really exist anymore.
No one else on that list really excites me. Just retreads.
If buyouts are a problem then you probably have only two options, Herman or Fisher.I believe the Hugh Freeze buy out would be between $ 10-15 million if you take his estimated salary until 2026. If Pruitt does get a buy out along with his staff that would make the cost to the school around $ 20-25 million then you would need to pay Freeze a salary of around $ 4-7 million a year after that. Now that would all change if Pruitt was found to be have known there were violations but as of now the buy out moneys would be a close guess.
So Chadwell just took a high school team to the top 10, Beat 3 top 20 teams with said HS team including BYU, went 11-1 and named NCAA coach of the year, is an east Tennessee guy, UT fan, and you say no! WTF?Freeze is blocked by the SEC. Fisher stupid. Herman hell no! Chadwell no Marrone no obrien mayyybbbeee. Billy is decent Gus yes the hire we need but not the hire for playoffs

How awesome would it be to see us hire the second fired coach from Texas and he turn us into a championship/top 10 team? For the record I’m not on the Herman bus but it would make for one hell of a haha momentIt amazes me the amount of people who say no to Tom Herman he would be a big upgrade here. I’m not saying he’s my first choice but he would win here.
Texas is a very weird job there is more politics and drama behind the scenes much worse than here and obviously that’s bad. Would he win a championship here idk, but people say he couldn’t win in a weak big 12. Okay so he couldn’t beat a rolling OU, and a rising Iowa State, but if we simply look at what your supposed to do, he beats down smaller competition (meanwhile Pruitt lost or escaped weak competition) and Tom Herman beats the teams he supposed to will he lose a toss up? Sure. But typically wins the games he’s supposed to. Next his teams always put up a lot of points (people say big 12, but honestly the SEC in recent years has been shootouts by elite teams so offense is a premium now. (Meanwhile with Pruitt offense was enemic)
I would be happy if we hired Herman and he did his offensive staff and on defense bring Kevin Steele and Rodney garner over, (or muschamp as DC) that type of combo could be pretty good. He averaged 8 wins a year over 4 years I'd take that here after the misery we've had the past 12-15 years.
I agree he burned some bridges when he was here, and he has publicly said he regrets it. Again I have heard that he would like to be here. I can't say if UT would hire him or not. I do know that we need 4-5 years of consistant above .500 winning seasons to pull us out of this purgatory. All on that list could give us that. Cheers! He's burned all his bridges back to UT and the people in control wont allow him to be rehired in my opinion.

I believe 'Tee Martin' would be Phil's coaching pseudonym. We’ll end up with someone like Marrone or gasp Tee Martin.
If we’re not going to get somebody like Campbell or on that level. I would get freeze or Chadwell or hell even Napier.
If the reports of his desire to have total control of the program with minimal interference from his superiors is true, I don't think he'll be a realistic option. No way the AD/admin/BOT at UT will agree to those demands. I'd love to have him be our next coach. Hell, I'd love to see just about anyone other than Pruitt roaming the sidelines next year.I think Napier would take the job. I think he would have taken FSU if he would have been offered over Mike Norvell. I think he didn’t take USC jr because I mean it’s South Carolina and he didn’t take Auburn because he doesn’t want to be another one of the 57 coaches that have been fired in the West since Saban got there.
Hogwash. The SEC isn't and can't block him. They might not like it, but UT can hire Freeze if they so choose and the NCAA can't do a damned thing about it...and if they try, he'd eat their lunch in court.Freeze is blocked by the SEC. Fisher stupid. Herman hell no! Chadwell no Marrone no obrien mayyybbbeee. Billy is decent Gus yes the hire we need but not the hire for playoffs
Yeah, we'll never be serious enough about winning to relinquish that much control. If the reports of his desire to have total control of the program with minimal interference from his superiors is true, I don't think he'll be a realistic option. Jamie Chadwell= Looking for new head football coach in December 2023I tend to agree with Jimmy Hyams that Jamey Chadwell is probably the best that Tennessee would be able to get with the NCAA investigation still looming.
My only concern is that Jamey Chadwell had his own run in with the NCAA when he was at Charleston Southern. Does the trouble he got into with CS disqualify him from consideration?
