If you ever wondered why A&m left Big12

I wouldn't judge the fanbase from what is posted in that looney bin. I think you will find that the overwhelming majority of A&M fans have a tremendous amount of respect for Tennessee.

T for Texas T for Tennessee is not just a song but a truth...there's generations of Tennessee blood running through a lot of Texans...if it wasn't for Tennessee, Texas' history/future would've been a little different...of course you know who Houston was named for...:peace2:

Best move A&M ever made was to the SEC & away from Tejas. They weren't like vandy status to us but they were definitely Little baby brother.

Documentary is about them leaving the Big 12. Maybe the 2014 hype graphics illustrated that it wasn't a disaster as predicted? :dunno:

The documentary came out in 2014 but is about the years leading up to the SEC move and then A&M's first season in the conference. The 2014 dates were just release dates.

Pretty sure it was the Texas tv network. That was it.

Yeah this was the final straw. TX is a money machine and didn't want to share. aTm has a loyal following but they are not the TX money machine. The Longhorn Network was perceived by the rest of the B12 as a greed play, SEC wanted to expand, aTm was pissed by the greed play and said make us an offer. And the rest is history.

We left the Big 12 because we felt that the SEC would give us a better platform to compete at the highest level. The SEC is the best conference in the country, iron sharpens iron. If you play against the best then you have an opportunity to become the best. We put 600 million dollars into the football program once we entered the SEC, we are serious about competing with Bama and LSU for the West each season as I know you are for the SEC East with UGA and UF.

This is true, but make no mistake A&M has a lot of money too. We had the largest athletic revenue 2015 in large part due to the move to the SEC and our endowment is 9.7 billion dollars.

Well said.

I live and work with horns and they don't understand the concept of a rising tide lifting all boats. They continue to hoard all the toys in a rapidly diminishing sandbox. The sad part is after they run the Big 12 into the ground they'll go independent.

Just look at Texas and ATaM since ATaM joined the SEC. One of Texas' problems in recent years is that they are losing the recruiting battle to other schools in the state, namely ATaM.

Didn't mean to imply you were poor. I didn't mean my post as a sleight. That was just the discussion mentality I remember when it was all going on. While you are not poor you aren't the revenue machine that TX was when this was all going on. We aren't/weren't either. And I do think the Longhorn Network was the final straw. Other schools were pissed too. Notably OU. But you guys had an opportunity to do something about it.

I really think independent is their end game play. They couldn't care less about the B12 regardless of the rhetoric. They look to Notre Dame for an as like.

Exactly right. They think they are something, they are not. They think they are "similar" and "comparable" to Tennessee, lol. We will physically dominate them at their place and put them back where they belong, just like Colorado.

Traditionally speaking they are similar and comparable to Tennessee. I always liked aTm before they joined the SEC. Even then, I still respect the program.

I don't think they even do a good job of acting like they care about the Big 12.

Texas just wants the money. All of it. And they don't want to be a part of anything they can't bully.

Because the SEC is bigger than Texas, and A&M was tired of being the little b!tch to Texas.

I actually don't have any ill will towards A&M, I'm glad they have been successful. Hope we win on Saturday but I do kinda pull for them in the west.

No sleight taken, just wanted to clarify that it wasn't only about money, we've always had that. We wanted an opportunity to play against the best of the best, and that's the SEC.

A&M was a great addition to the SEC. I think their tradition and fan culture fits well.

The SEC is more democratic. Vandy has the same vote as Bama in the leagues decision making and gets and equal share of the league generated money. In the Big 12 it was Texas and Oklahoma and everyone else got the scraps.

Never forget, were it not for Tennesseans like Houston and Crockett, Texans would be known as Texicans these days.

I like having A&M in the SEC. It's been a good fit. Would love to give Mizzou away, free to a good home (other conference). They don't belong. VA Tech or Clemson would be a good addition. Or Kentucky maybe.:birgits_giggle:

Maybe it's just me but I love Texas A&M being in the SEC. They left the shadow of Texas and made their own way in the best conference in the country. They've got a great fanbase that is very loyal.
