If You Dont THINK We Can Beat Florida....

I read the whole post. It's fine if you think there needs to be a change in the coaching staff. I just think it's twisted logic to ever hope for a negative outcome for the sake of a coaching change. You can't have it both ways.

If you read what I said in its entirety, you would see that I'm NOT hoping for a negative outcome!! Sorry for stirring up a hornet's nest, but am I alone in thinking that this program belongs on a higher level? Are we supposed to blindly root, and accept the reality that 9-3 is as good as it gets? I love the Vols as much as anyone, but I'm not going to put my head in the sand! You guys are a little sensitive, don't you think?

You beat me to it.

I don't care what the situation is, I will never utter "Go <opposing team>"

Agreed totally. Hoping that our team loses to one of its arch-rivals as a means to your desired end is, well, a fitting adjective without sounding rude doesn't come to me.

Sure, there is reason to call for CPF's head, especially after the debacle that was '05, but if we win tomorrow, there is a decent chance we can run all the way to the SEC CG.

I realize that sports has become a "what have you done for me lately" world, but c'mon, the guy isn't as bad as you make him out to be. Has he ever been outcoached? Of course he has. But so has everyone. Sure, i even feel sometimes he plays it too safe with the lead, like the Squib kick against UGA after Stephen's TD in '01, or running down the stretch to kill clock now and again. But this is something you have to do against top competition, not fitting for the squib example, but if you go 3 and out rushing and leave 1:45 on the clock, people will call for your head. If you go 2 rushes and a pass (which stops the clock for 4th down) or God Forbid throw a pick, the same people that holler about playing conservatively will be calling for your head for passing the ball on 3rd and 4 with a 7 point lead.

Dislike CPF all you want, but if your dislike of him leads you to root for UF over the Vols, then something is wrong with your pride.

A Vol fan cheering for a UF win and a losing season has that effect on us.

Exactly . . . This really has nothing to do with the Fulmer argument at all. In my mind hoping for a negative outcome in order to affect a coaching change is sort of like like hoping all your teeth will fall out because you don't like your dentist.

:eek:lol: agreed.

Great analogy.

I get fed up sometimes as well, but Look at Fulmer's Record:

He has had:

1 13-0 undefeated
3 11-1 or 2 loss game seasons w/losses to Florida,Georgia, LSU, and Nebraska
4 10-2 or 3 loss seasons w/losses to Florida, Penn State, Memphis, Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Notre Dame
2 9 win seasons
3 8 win seasons
1 5 win or losing season

In three of those years He lost to the National Champion in Florida twice and Nebraska once. He consistantly keeps the VOLS finishing in the top 15 in the country and has had them ranked in the top 25 for 12 of his 14 seasons. Apparently he has done something right, either he keeps good assistants or he can coach...Give him the credit he deserves!

I'm only going to say it one more time - I AM NOT ROOTING AGAINST THE VOLS!!!! If everybody is happy forever being on the second tier, so be it. I thought we were moving to the first tier when Majors left, and it looked good for a while. (Of course, it would be hard to top JM's incompetence - I was at UT during those years, and I've never seen talent squandered like that). This program should be 9-3 in its sleep! Let me ask you guys a question - what has to happen before we ever get a change? I don't expect an answer, because that would suggest something negative, and I know we can't have any of that.

Do you not get that nobody in this thread is taking you to task for not liking CPF?

You will find many posts on this board that agree with you on CPF. Even the most ardent Fulmer supporter has to acknowledge the last few years have been rough.

I think your first sentence is really out of place with the point you are trying to make. Read it again and see if you don't get the same impression.

Groves, you have many months less that me but 4x as many posts, i guess i'm slipping

But my dog can tree more coon than your dog

You're probably a more productive person than me

My dog gets ducks, not coons:)

No choice on productivity, work starts too early and ends too late

I don't like the taste of waterfowl, on rainy fall days I'd rather sit over a meadow with the .257 and wait for all the stealthy bowhunters to drive the deer out of the thickets

And of course, the Loud, Obnoxious "Let me out of my cage i've got to piss" bark-yeowl of a black and tan hound is about the only thing that can roust me from sleep

That's the good thing about duck season, I'll have usually killed more deer than I can fit in my freezer (muzzleloader season is good to me) by the time duck season rolls around.

I love the "sneaky" bowhunter comment.

Theres a guy at work that talks about all the 'sport' that bowhunting has. I tell him my 'sport' is usually on the 4th of november after i've filled my freezer and spend saturdays checking my traps, drinking hard cider and watching football rather than standing in a tree being a "True Outdoorsman"
